  • It's been clarified. The dev confirmed in this comment that ad trackers & data collection are removed when you pay ($3.49) to remove ads: https://lemmy.world/comment/3811201

  • Boost does have a paid option. It's a $3.49 one time fee to remove ads, which also removes all trackers and data collection.

Coca-Cola's New AI-Generated Soda Flavor Falls Flat
  • Yeah I've seen people recommend ChatGPT for meal planning and recipes, and it's mostly fine for common, simple recipes but it does super weird things when you ask it for something nonstandard, that has a lot of variations, or with dietary restrictions. Like it repeatedly gave me recipes with my allergens with a note to check package for said allergen and other weird things like claiming frozen vegetables take 10 minutes to roast in the oven. It's useful for certain things but it's not really intelligent.

Ashton Kutcher Resigns From His Anti-Child Sex Abuse Organization Amid Danny Masterson Support Backlash
  • Yes. Supposedly it was Danny Masterson that recruited them. Some of them claim to no longer be involved with the church, but celebrities have been known to lie about that before, likely a church PR move to convince people they're totally not a cult and that people can leave any time.

    Salad Cat
  • I had a cat growing up who loved lettuce. We'd toss him a leaf, and he'd go nuts, growling the whole time while eating it. The other cats would just look at him like 'wtf bro we don't even want that'

Is there a point to seeking a formal diagnosis? Are there any major drawbacks? (Canada)
  • Also worth mentioning that if you have ADHD, you get those same protections. Idk how it is in Canada where OP is, but in the US, adult autism evaluations can be hard to obtain and insurance typically will fight coverage but ADHD evaluations are easier and usually covered.

Does anyone *not* love using their bidet?
  • You can probably get it down in one sitting. Just make sure you can get the angle right before actually going so you don't end up with an infection.

  • You have to angle your body such that the water drips straight down and not toward the front. It requires some practice to get the hang of.

[AskFinance] How often do you eat out, and does that impact your finances?
  • We bought a countertop convection toaster oven that preheats within ~5 minutes. As a family of 2, it has pretty much replaced our oven usage, but a larger family might not like it as much. It can fit up to a 9x13 pan so that's a small sheet pan or most casserole dishes.

It's really nice that it doesn't make the kitchen hot. It can also air fry decently, not as nice as a standalone air fryer, but it's way more versatile. Ours is a ~ $300 Calphalon, pricier than most, but we use it almost daily, and the cheap Oster one we had before only lasted about a year. I'm sorry this sounds like an ad.

[AskFinance] How often do you eat out, and does that impact your finances?
  • About once a week. We're more concerned about the impact on our waist lines than our finances.

One thing we try to do to save money is to order meals for leftovers. As an example, a $14 burger will almost always be one meal, while a $14 Thai curry typically lasts for 3 meals or more. Even within specific restaurants, bowls or plates offer more bang for your buck than sandwich entrees.

We also often roast vegetables or other side dishes in the oven while waiting for delivery, mainly for health but it's also typically cheaper.

    Binding & dysphoria
  • I find binding pretty uncomfortable, and I don't like the way it looks on me. Have you tried taping? Some say it feels better.

  • I know about the show read option in instance settings, but I often like to revisit posts I've upvoted or haven't voted on, and my saved list gets heavy quickly. I can of course downvote and manually hide, but it would be a nice little convenience feature if it could happen automatically.
