TIL there is apparently a $43,652 chandelier on Amazon, and there are only 20 left in stock so invest now!!!
  • After clicking on a $43k chandelier, now my "recommended products" for underwear is just a bunch of diamond-encrusted things...

Edit: thongs, damn autocorrect. But it still works

    Is Google Maps getting worse?
  • That's exactly what it is. I just had this happen where two US highways merge, and it told me to "keep straight on HWY 20" at that location. You'll also often see this where two interstates merge for a while in and around cities.

GM to lay off 680 workers at Fairfax plant as production shifts to new Chevrolet Bolt EV
  • That doesn't seem right - there are a bunch of vehicles that are not hybrid. I just looked up the 2025 Tahoe and see no indication that the base 6.2l V8 is a hybrid...

I think the correct answer is "the only remaining gasoline-powered CAR is the Corvette, based on a quick look at their website. I'm guessing this was written by AI from a collection of press releases, but it is possible that it was also written by a human who made a simple mistake in grammer.

Looking for advice and shared experiences - ADHD medications stressing my body out
  • Thanks for your response! What you've told me is accurate, and I have always taken all my Garmin measurements with a grain of salt. But the measurements of stress also coincide with actually feelings of immense stress, restlessness, anxiety, and extreme debilitating mental and physical fatigue.

I took Adderall for 2 years, starting with small doses and slowly titrating up after a few months of consistency. Over that time, the symptoms I describe began to start and become more severe. I did in fact have a nice stretch at the start where the Adderall was working well. I definitely didn't jump ship at the first sign of physiological changes...only at the point where continuing with the Adderall was going to continue negatively impacting my life and work.

In my futile attempt to stop my post from running on and on with these bits of context, I omitted it and posted it...to a forum full of people that thrive on excessive amounts of context.

Looking for advice and shared experiences - ADHD medications stressing my body out
  • I took Adderall for about two years with slowly increasing dosages, so I definitely had the consistency aspect down. If anything it seemed to work well early on, but then started causing issues the longer I took it.

  • Hi everyone! I was diagnosed a few years ago in my early 30s, and started taking Adderall along with some different drugs for anxiety as well.

With Adderall and then Wellbutrin, even in small dosages, I notice that my HRV Stress (recorded on a Garmin 945 Forerunner) is significantly elevated for the entire day. When I used to take a midday and evening dose of (instant release) Adderall, it severely impacted my sleep. I also tried extended release taken in the morning, and that caused sleeping issues as well. So did an extended release of Wellbutrin.

Basically, any benefits those medications provide (and it didn't really feel like it was helping) were offset by the bodily impact.

Has anyone had a similar experience with either of these medications? Any notable co-morbidities or changed metabolism or something that you identified as causing these symptoms? Did Ritalin or Strattera work for you when Adderall did not? I've been cycling through other non-stim medications with my provider, but haven't found anything that provides benefits for ADHD (I'm currently on guanfacine and zoloft, which mitigates my anxiety at least).

Household Vehicles Were Parked 95% on a Typical Day in 2022 — So Much Time & Opportunity for EV Charging
  • 240V lines have two legs running through the breaker. So unfortunately it isn't just as easy as swapping at both ends, you have to pull another wire for the 2nd leg.

Edit: I was curious and looked it up - it is two hot without a neutral, so the OP comment is actually correct! TIL

    Thoughts on EV motorcycles?
  • I rode a few Zeros at a promotional event and really enjoyed them. I had an Africa Twin, and was mostly going on longer rides out in the sticks, to which I agree with other posters suggesting the range isn't great. However, I'd love one for a commuter to get to and from work, as well as for a quick spin whenever I got the itch.

But the $12k+ starting price just isn't where it is at for the moment, considering less than half that can get you a 70+ mpg commuter bike.

Hoping when I get back into motorbikes when the kids grow up, there will be a plethora of cheap, fun commuter/city EVs.

Which competition would be the easiest or most likely one for a regular person/you to (1) make into the Olympics and (2) actually be competitive?
  • Was watching Denmark v. France last week. France got a penalty, and Denmark subbed in a very rotund goalkeeper for the penalty, then Immediately subbed him back out.

So, just get hella chonky and go join your country's handball team.

Real talk, I wish Handball was more widely played in the US. I have the right build and good hand-eye coordination for (non-goalie) Handball.

Summer Giveaway because why not - Steam Codes! - Giveaway Ends Aug 31!
  • So nice of you to do this! I see other comments suggesting TRI-III remastered runs well on Deck, so I would love a chance to give that a go!

I just finished Horizon: Forbidden West last week (playing the DLC now), and it left me with mixed feelings. I loved the story of the first game so much, and was so excited when FW came to PC, but it just did not hit the same way. RIP Lance Reddick, anytime Sylens was in the story it was a treat.

Tesla in Seattle-area crash that killed motorcyclist was using self-driving system, authorities say
  • This type of crash also underlines the need for motorcycle filtering (motorcycles can move around stopped vehicles to the front of the line at a stop light) to be legalized country-wide. The more assisted driving technologies are becoming standard in vehicles, the more opportunities for distracted driving and this type of crash involving motorcycles.

Hey Boost, could you maybe vet your ads a little better?
  • I'm legitimately confused because I use Boost and don't see ads.

I assume my PiHole stops them on my home network, and maybe DDG does elsewhere? Not 100% sure, but it works for now.
