  • I don't think it looks like corruption, though. Being in a government position doesn't make you immune from hiring from a pool of people you know, nor do I think that's an overt problem if it's on your own dime. These two are lovers, but they took several vacations because of her position? I don't think that follows.

All of this is really beside my original point. I think a woman's personal life has been made the main feature of a high profile case, and now everyone's scrutinizing Willis, over dubious behavior at best, instead of at the defendant who's accused of committing high crimes.

Anyone continuing to incite blame on Willis is falling for this obvious nonsense.

  • Thanks for your perspective.

It sounds like though, her actions on this trial could be called "being human" as well.

Is there evidence that says Wade is a bad and otherwise unfit lawyer for this case? I could be wrong, but it sounds like he paid for the trip they took. In either case what would that matter? How does that affect their judgement to act in this case?

Anyone can answer, but right now I'm not convinced this isn't a dog and pony show diversion. If I get a chance, I'll try and learn more about Willis and this case.

  • Part of me feels like the reason people are making a mountain of this, is because Willis is a woman. I don't understand how prosecutors in a relationship is a conflict of interest issue here, and that their personal lives are on trial for something unrelated.

Would the same thing be happening it Willis was a man? Do we usually just attack the prosecutors themselves in the Courtroom? I think it would make sense if it was the defense or the judge they had a relationship with but the whole thing seems blown out of proportion.

  • I can't believe we're talking about this again. Feels like every five years or so, some industry has-been wants to talk about phones changing gaming.

Last year was one of the best for games in recent years, all of which I wouldn't want to play on my phone.

Wake up, Touchscreens aren't ideal, it's just convenient. The market is bigger than just people wanting to play on the phone.

EDIT I reread and think my rant isn't really applicable to this, but I'll leave up how I feel anyway.

  • I'm tired of the "DAE" posts that got banned in reddit, and I understand why. There's usually a better way to express this opinion.

To entertain this though, this is an internet wise concept, we're aware of "doomscrolling" for a reason. There's not really a reason to think Lemmy or some other platform would be wildly different.

  • I mean, I get it, we should hold the president to higher standards and be more inclusive overall. All I'm saying is don't forget that Biden, much like all of us, are products of our environment, and that includes our time. At the end of the day he has been far more cognizant and considerate of the diversity in America than his predacesors and many others currently in government. Look no further than that house inquiry to TikTok and how that representative didn't know the difference between China and Singapore.

  • I just wanted to add that, like most things in Linux, it depends. Some things are easier in some distros and some applications etc..

I find trying to use ROCm as an example, far more of a pain on arch, and have to wait until someone figures out the problems I can't dive into.

I know it's anecdotal, but I just wanted to give more perspective.

  • Black conservative should be an oxymoron. The republican party isn't really about conservative values in almost any sense. Seems more like it's about hate and creating fear and xenophobic tendancies, then giving tax breaks to the wealthy.

All these black conservative voices are all trying to live in the house, and it shows.
