  • For laptops, it seems like a winner to me. Do you need to expand your laptop's GPU memory? It was justified by lower power, and likely better transfer rates.

Bowery, once a leading indoor farming company valued at $2.3B, shuts down
  • Indoor agriculture has many advantages, but it also needs cheap land, and cheap energy. That usually means a balance between close to major urban centers, but far enough away to have a lot of room (including solar). Greenhouses, even tall ones, with multiple stories is the path to go. Solar and owning land means complete cost certainty for energy.

Advantages include low water, pesticide, fungicide, long growing season, high yields, and resilience to climate. It is global south and high north that need the resilience, and who have the most threatened agriculture states.

  • The tenses don't add precision, IMO. There is a plural them instead of him/her but it sounds the same as the singular him/her. There is a plural you that sounds different, but there is also a polite singular you that is the plural you.

An explainer on how Russia's economy is growing despite the war and sanctions from the West.

a more detailed, but biased, article https://www.lewrockwell.com/2024/11/no_author/russian-economy-zooms-ahead-outpaces-us-and-eu-growth/

There is more likely to be a collapse on the west from supporting a Ukraine war. There is zero resonance of "NATO is a purely defensive alliance" propaganda meant to be a friend to the world or to Russia inside of Russia. It is fully understood as an existential threat in Russia, while it is a casual inconvenience to those who trust western media in the west. A deep concern for the world/west is that Russia's extreme growth in military production means that we will soon be asked to boost competing military production and compromise our own sustainability and leisure.

In 4 years, US power grid increased battery storage to the equivalent of 20 nuclear reactors | The Optimist Daily
  • Storage does have 2 relevant metrics. how fast it can charge/discharge in GW, and the amount of energy available in gwh. Batteries typically have both these amounts equal. While other storage technologies usually can discharge a large amount of gwh at a slow rate. The discharge rate is often limited to the line capacity available as well.

Though the US/EU being slow at making $20k or $30k cars does mean there is this market opportunity for this in MX.

Is there as much enthusiasm for Trump online today as eight years ago?
  • "I share the concern of most Americans that our economic, immigration and foreign policies are taking the country in the wrong direction. For these reasons, I am planning to vote for change and support Donald Trump for President," Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman said in a statement to Axios.

This is an absolute lie for his reasons. During University protests, He and other Zionist hedge fund titans switched to Trump due to "rising anti semitism" as explicit reasons. He can't say that out loud any more, but this is what powers Trump's campaign. Netanyahu's favorite. Biden failing to Kent State university protests is what makes them angry.

  • As someone who speaks both French and English, I'm surprised to see French as leading "information density" language. Most French terms have been incorporated into English. Language tends to be behind on technology terms. Language doesn't have any noticeable difference in short syllable common words to English. It also seems to me that French speakers have an easier time in being vague. I have the impression that English is more precise.

Beyond rigging batteries with a SEMTEX shell, the key vulnerability is a BMS (battery protection controller) that can be signaled to overheat/damage the battery and intentionally cause a fire.

With Israel supremacy firmly self justified on religious grounds, their solid control over US politics and deep state appointments, any obstacle to their genocidal solutions for supremacy is a target. US politicians (Trump specifically) congratulating Israel/Netanyahu on the brilliance of the tactic, means not just supporting assassinations of obstacles to Israel supremacy, but to Trump's supremacy, through strong arming industry partners to include the capability. One of the current AI powers is easily identifying the phones of those who are less enthusiastic of policies.

One way to make sure that all Americans are vulnerable to such an attack is "all accusations are confessions" a ban on Chinese phones accusing them of having the back door.

By criminalising Unrwa, Israel has translated its genocidal intent into national law and officially stopped recognising UN values. It must be expelled from the family of nations

The ask is for General assembly to invalidate Israel's new laws and attacks, and while the US says it is a bad law, it will be up to US to not veto UN resolution against Israel. Failure to agree to UN resolution, with continued unlimited free unconditional arms for Israel should result in expelling the US from UN as well.

An international blockade of Israel is needed to get it to conform to international law. The US is incapable of credibly conducting the blockade.

www.huffpost.com Elon Musk Says Trump Will Bring 'Temporary Hardship' For Americans

The statements from Trump's biggest backer are stunningly contrary to the former president's sunnier description of American life under a second Trump presidency.

While Musk is referring to the magical $2T+ in budget cuts to US budget he will sail through magical congressional unanimity...

Hardship has to include the extreme difficulty in reindustrializing the US in an environment where labour is deported, and reciprocal tariffs means serving a local declining market where fewer people have money left over if they are overpaying for imported goods.

Recessions not only reduce tax revenue, they also are typically responded to by significant government investment to pull out of recession, and the US is nearly maxed out already.

www.carbonbrief.org Analysis: No growth for China’s emissions in Q3 2024 despite coal-power rebound - Carbon Brief

China’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions stayed at, or just below, last year’s levels in the...

This is the most comprehensive reporting on Chinese emissions released regularly. There is still an expectation/possibility that China's emissions will be lower than 2023, and then a near certainty that the peak will be 2023 or 2024.

    Some notes:

China is only committed to peaking by 2030. Ministry doesn't view an early peak as a new goal.

7.8% electricity demand growth in Q3 was huge, and so slight emission increase from power sector. Oil (EVs and LNG truck success), Steel and Cement (construction downturn) emissions were down to make overall emissions flat.

A worrying national/energy security measure is China is expanding its ability to make oil and gas chemicals from coal instead.

Electrolysis powered by PV solar of CO2 into acetate can increase plant yields by 4x compared to just sunlight. Technology and bioengineering of plants can improve it even more.

This can make cheap buildings powered by PV more cost effective than open land farming. No pesticides or fungicides, and less fertilizer use.

An important role that livestock provides is that of a food battery. Climate vulnerable crop yields allow for culling livestock when plant yield is more scarce. Indoor ag provides climate and seasonal resilient food output.
