Some subreddits could be paywalled, hints Reddit CEO
  • So they want people to possibly pay to visit certain subreddits and the content of those subreddits is most definitely going to stay server submitted and curated. Getting people to pay to be able to submit their own content is going to go over well with the user base. They are probably going to do it with the NSFW subreddits.

Iranian warship rolls over in port, could be out of action for six months
  • It’s pretty clear what happens to this one wouldn’t say it was mysterious. Do you think a country from the west capsizing ships in Iranian ports?

Sounds to me like their repair crew screwed up and caused something to fill with water that shouldn’t have filled with water.

    Looking for new Site Admins
  • I probably check all the boxes. Currently a cyber security engineer have worked in infrastructure for the last twenty years and currently head up the compliance team of the cyber division of the company I work for, I focused mainly on NIST, CMMC, and SOC II compliance. I’ve modded a few forums and discord servers over the last 20 or so years. There is no way in hell I’m dropping private info on a random google doc that’s open to the public. If there is a more secure way send my info send me a message.

Everything Apple iOS 18 Will Do, Android Already Does
  • As someone that flips between Samsung and iPhone they all are selling us the same shit every year. Smartphones in general have gotten stale. I can’t remember anything in the last 5 years that anyone has announced that made me think I have to upgrade my device. Maybe it’s just me but the tech seems boring now.

Chinese military harassed Dutch warship enforcing UN sanctions on North Korea, Netherlands says
  • What coverage in the US is saying Russia is provoking or escalating? Everything I’ve read was the US was monitoring Russian Warships in Cuba and all have said it’s pretty much a non issue.

Russian woman traveling to the US through Mexico complains that everyone hates Russians.
  • First off as an American I can assure you I have run into plenty of people who hate Americans for shit our government has done. As for Russians a lot of Russians support Putin so in turn a lot of people assume all Russians support the invasion so in turn most folks will have a bit of disdain for Russians.

U.S. governors urge Turks and Caicos to release Americans as Florida woman becomes 5th tourist arrested for ammo in luggage
  • I travel with and without. I have bags specifically for firearms and ammo. That way when I travel somewhere that having just one round of 22lr might be an issue I use a bag that never had my firearm stuff. It eliminates the uncertainty.

Steam is now refunding Ghost of Tsushima for people in affected countries.
  • You can buy Starfield on Steam does it require an Xbox account to play if you buy it in steam? I think most are saying if you can buy it in steam but still need a psn account to play it then pirate it. I have both Xbox and PlayStation but I’m with the masses on this if you offer it on a platform then you shouldn’t require an account from a different platform to be able to play the game.

Remember when Google Music hadn't been killed yet...?
  • I have a first and last name email on Gmail and I had some dbag email me telling me if I didn’t hand over the email to him he was going to sign my account up for every spam service he could find also claimed he was going to hack my account but the brute force attempts and phishing emails didn’t work. This was a few years ago and I still get a ton of spam on that account and Google doesn’t have a solution for it so the account just sits there unused. I will take that email to my grave before I let some jackass in the internet get what he wants.

Constantly getting possible hack attempt floods from certain IP addresses.
  • If they are making it past your firewall and hitting your computer then the firewall is open and it shouldn’t be. Or that’s an outbound connection triggering the alert.

US Secretary of State Blinken Stranded After Boeing Plane Breaks Down On Davos Trip
  • Planes require lots of maintenance not sure why everyone is saying Boeing is the cause of this one. How old is the modified aircraft? If it’s a few months off the assembly line and it’s having maintenance issue that is grounding the aircraft then yea give Boeing some shit but airlines/operators have to take planes out of service all the time for maintenance, shoot even the military does it.

I worked in Aerospace for a few years and the company I worked for did a lot of work for Boeing, mostly on the Apache program, Boeing definitely has its issues but maintenance issues are not a Boeing only issue.

Congress considering credit card bill that would throw holiday plans into reverse
  • Article sounds like it was written by the credit card companies. I use a credit card for all purchases and pay off monthly and I got back 1500 dollars. That isn’t paying for a whole lot of travel for a family of four, which is what my household is. Also 1-2 % investment is a joke. My company pays 3% to process credit cards and if you take Apple Pay it’s higher.
