the Magicians Contest - Entanglement #2 by Skadivore
  • Oh this is um... The Magicians . That was probably obvious from the title. I watched the first season on netflix and it seemed fairly interesting, not sure how it went after that though.

    [I made] Boneless (tofu) bites
  • This looks so good and is exactly the kind of thing I've been searching for. I used to eat buffalo chicken + mac and cheese all the time and I was like, surely it must be possible to do similar with tofu, it's mostly just batter and hot sauce anyways, but I've never found anywhere that does anything like that

What is the name of this type of image
  • Slightly off-topic but recently I saw a bunch of these under the rayshader tag on mastodon, seems like https://fosstodon.org/@terence posts a lot of them if you want to check some out (edit: I might want to clarify that they are likely generated based on data rather than photos from space, though)

  • I just switched from linux mint to lmde 6 as well and it does feel very much the same cinnamon-y DE I left. The only difference so far is I had to install nvidia drivers myself as it doesn't seem to come with a driver manager like mint did. I've gotten everything else I used so far set up fine but... I guess I haven't tried gaming yet which I guess might be important to check out, will have to soon

Last Week in Fediverse #37 - The Fediverse Report
  • To get an impression of the direction they will be taking, their Lemmy post discussing the archetypes of people who might use PostFreely.

This sentence sort of reads like there was a link expected to be in it, but I could be mistaken. I think I found it here.

What is the most stable food production method?
  • I would sort of expect it to be the stuff we struggle to get rid of, like fungi and weeds. So maybe mushrooms and dandelions? This is just a wild guess, and obviously you couldn't live off them forever.

PSA: Reddit is Forcing Users to Accept Personalized Ads
  • Or am I missing something?

I think the only distinguishing factor is to target, it must gather data. So that means your activity is being tracked, stored, and shared with third parties. Of course for some people this will matter more than to others, but for those privacy focused you now know for certain they are storing data on you, potentially making money off of selling it, with no way to opt out.

Don’t throw out those used coffee grounds—use them for 3D printing instead
  • Wait, what? I need more information. You probably mean loose leaf but I guess you could just cut open a used bag? But surely that's like, one bag a month or something. I drink like 6 cups of tea a day, how long does it take before you can add more? (I had this problem with composting when I learned I could add like a small peel per week and I was like... I generate 10x that per day.)

How Cyberpunk 2077 clawed its way back from disaster to complete one of the greatest redemption arcs in gaming history
  • The article does a good job of summarizing everything they changed and improvements, but I feel like pcgamer's headline is sort of leaving off a "... after reducing scope". For instance, the multiplayer mode that had been announced before launch. I also think I read they planned on multiple DLCs but they reduced that down to just this one? Regardless all my friends seem to enjoy the game so I'm sure it's a fun game to play

  • One thing I've been told in the past is that with public voting records you at least get an idea of if brigading is happening, where it's coming from etc. Though maybe that's just a giant list of randomly generated usernames but if it's coming from a single instance there are at least actions to take from that.

Calligram of frog 32: 3 balloons by Pascal Lecocq
  • This is a nice piece. I don't have much to add, but I spoke to a French friend I have that's super into art. He said he had heard of this painter from Le matador (looks like that's the header of the series link you posted). But he was more familiar with Pierre Soulages who apparently is also known as "the painter of black" according to wikipedia. With this painter being "the painter of blue" I'm wondering if there's a whole palette of painters out there.

    is the lemmyverse dying already?
  • Definitely curious to see if we experience waves similar to how mastodon does every time elon says something stupid. I'm not sure we will, though. With the entire reddit gold thing I was expecting people to throw their arms up about the reversal of stuff people paid money for but it seems like they just accepted it and moved on. Perhaps the people that remain will stay there no matter what. Regardless I think how things are going here are still promising.

FTC fails to redact Microsoft document, revealing an old Bethesda release schedule
  • It also says FY which I assume means Fiscal Year. It seems like Microsoft's fiscal years end in June and start in July based on browsing a few investor pages (like this one saying fourth quarter ended in June). Not that that completely solves for the time difference but wanted to mention it
