YouTuber "bald and bankrupt" crosses the world's deadliest jungle: The Darien Gap
  • I don't know who this guy is but don't beat yourself up about it. There are so many YouTubers with decent content but problematic personalities/tendencies. It would be a full time job just to keep up with who is actually a dirtbag in disguise. Obviously we shouldn't be supporting these creators once we find out they suck, but you shouldn't be expected to research the creator of every video you find interesting.

  • Things are getting better. Scooter has been being pretty friendly to Noki. Noki is still unsure when entering the same room because Scooter likes to run over and give headbutts and he can't tell if it's going to be friendly or not. If he stands his ground it's all good but if he runs Scooter gives chase but it's getting better everyday now.

Some progress with Scooter and Noki
  • They've been together for about two years with no problems, but a few weeks back Noki got outside for a few hours and when he came back Scooter went ballistic and started attacking him. Idk what smell he picked up but it really set Scooter off. I don't think the smell is a problem anymore but they both seem to be holding a grudge about the fight. I kept them separate for a few days and fed them treats together under a door until they started getting along again but things aren't stable yet. They'll be good for a while and then next time they see each other they'll hiss. Cats right? 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Things have gotten better. They are friendly like 80% of the time. Hanging out on the bed or couch with me is ideal. When they pass in the hallway it's a toss up on if they'll hiss or not.

I could really use some advice about him
  • Thank you! I had experienced something similar the first time Scooter went to have his teeth pulled. Noki didn't recognize him at first but it only involved a little hissing and only lasted a day. This time I think it was a combo of him smelling like outside, Scooter being a more aggressive youngster and the fact he saw him come over the fence into the yard. They never go outside except in the catio, so he saw him as an intruder because cats in the yard are usually strangers. I'm just thankful it's getting better. It was pretty stressful for a few days.

I could really use some advice about him
  • Things are slowly getting back to normal. I had to keep them separate for almost a week and just kept giving them treats together. Currently there is still occasional hissing and if Noki doesn't stand his ground Scooter will give chase but it's not vicious like it was. Mostly positive interactions though with some grooming and headbutts.

  • Last night his brother Noki slipped out the door while I was trying to get the dog inside. This isn't a huge deal, he used to be a partial outdoor cat, I usually just wait and he comes back in an hour or two. Here's the trouble though, when he came back, this one (Scooter) decided he's never seen this cat in his life and will therefore attack and chase him viciously. I managed to wrangle Scooter into his carrying cage and get him in my bedroom. He spent the night with me with the doors closed, and when I woke up they seemed to be sniffing each other under the door and not hissing or howling, but when I opened the door all hell broke loose. Scooter will still not leave him alone if he sees him. I tried rubbing Noki with the towel from Scooters cage trying to get him to smell more familiar, but I don't know what else to do. They've always gotten along really well and their play fights never involved hissing and howling. Scooter lost a whole claw in the exchange last night. Noki seems fine but is hiding in a closet and I had to bring him food because Scooter won't let him come downstairs.

Update: Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! I kept Noki in a separate room overnight with a litter box and food/water. I fed Scooter and him treats on either side of the door. This morning I switched and put Scooter in the room and let Noki out. When I got home I fed them both treats under the door and then cracked it so they could see each other. No hissing or aggression so I let Scooter out and they finished the treats with their faces touching. After the treats were finished, Scooter gave a quick hiss and Noki walked off but there was no chase and no fighting. I think I'm on the right track! Noki is still hiding so I'm going to keep them separated and continue feeding them treats together until I feel like they are back to normal. This community is awesome, big thanks to everyone who commented♥️

  • I think it's gotta be Scooter (The snowshoe) His full name is Scooter Bug, because he is constantly bugging everybody. He's always gotta be right where the action is. If I'm petting and talking sweet to one of the others he needs to come and insert himself in between the pets. He also likes to wrestle and is constantly tackling the others. Oh and he gets wet food because of his teeth being removed and he thinks he's special because the other cats only get it occasionally. Lol

  • Yes! He is literally the sweetest cat I've ever known. He is always just chill as heck, never much of a problem (aside from the occasional couch scratch) and always down to cuddle. He sleeps between my legs every night.

What are you doing to help Lemmy thrive?
  • I try to post a picture of my cats every day or two. It's not much, but I get a fair amount of engagement on some of them. Aside from that I scroll daily and comment and upvote when something catches my eye. Haven't been back to Reddit since Apollo died so this is my only social media and I really want too see it grow.

  • My mom made both blankets in the picture. The black and white in the lower right corner and the one Noki is laying on. All I know is that the yarn comes from Michaels craft stores and she usually orders online.

[HN] YouTube's crackdown on ad blockers intensifies
  • Does yours actually block YouTube ads? I followed instructions and set my pi-hole up a few years ago and it works pretty well on most things but does not block YouTube ads. I was told this was because YouTube hosts the ads on the same IP address as the videos and therefore the pi-hole can't tell the difference? However, I've been using smart tube on my Nvidia shield tv box and that blocks the ads. Do I just need to update my block list on the pi-hole?
