CPC policy hypotheticals: Canadians see a balanced budget, longer jail time as ‘good’; defunding CBC as ‘bad’ -
  • I never understand why people don't want criminals reformed, just locked up.

Because "lock them up" is a simple answer that is quick, easy to understand and relativity easy to do.

Rehabilitation takes time, takes effort, and doesn't have a "one size fits all" method.

It's not a simple, easy to understand (and easy to slogan) approach, even if it does actually have proven better long-term outcomes for society.

Do my phone and watch have explosives embedded in them?
  • how do I know someone hasn’t placed a bomb inside

You learn enough about electronics to identify things that shouldn't be in there, and then you open up and analyze your devices.

Alternatively, you could not become involved with an organization that is at war with a powerful country who has a capable spy/espionage agency.

What can I do with my super old laptop?
  • I've used old laptops as battery backed up NAS boxes.

Obviously assumes that you can install a reasonably large drive and that the battery still has some life left in it.

The Carbon Tax Is Good for Canadians. Why Axe It?
  • Clearly this shit resonates.

Simplistic slogans do tend to take less effort to understand that more complex and nuanced understanding of big issues.

The Carbon Tax Is Good for Canadians. Why Axe It?
  • Because if people don't want it,

Most people, once the details of how it really works are understood, are not against the carbon pricing system.

Part of the problem is that the public are being lied to by right wing voices, and hold false understandings of what is really happening.

  • Any of those should have sunk a normal person's political ambitions.

The fact that Trump somehow seems to be immune from the normal realities of society is frustrating.

The R beside his name wouldn't let him call them out directly.

Would a brigade effort to "engage" with Trump ads in streaming services force the campaign to waste extra money, and make a viable psyop when they measure their telemetry?
  • it would now look like anything and everything interests you

That could get you on some interesting lists.

Personally, I'd rather not have any database think I was interested in certain topics, no matter how false that data is.

The trend isn't confined to the Bow Valley or even to Alberta. The federal government has temporarily eased limits on how many temporary foreign workers a business can hire in low-wage positions, and employers across Canada have increasingly made use of the program.
