An Ubisoft investor wants to dethrone Ubisoft's founders so Ubisoft can lay more developers off
  • Grammar lesson, an is used when the following word starts with a vowel SOUND not just a vowel. Ubisoft starts with a consonant y sound and should not be preceded with an. That is why this sentence reads a little weird and the professional writers who wrote this headline should have known this, (it's also possible they though Ubisoft was pronounced OOH-BEE-SOFT but not knowing that seems more unforgivable for a gaming journalist)

EDIT: I AM INCORRECT. I misread the French IPA pronunciation of Ubisoft and have been mispronouncing Ubisoft. The journalist is correct.

How do y'all cope without meds?
  • As someone who can't medicate my ADHD, even with caffeine because they all either don't help or interfere with my panic disorder which is much, much more debilitating, it is... Not great, but I've mostly found a lifestyle that works for me. I've found careers that I can handle. Maintaining a household alone is... Very rough under the circumstances but it is what it is.

All that said, HIGHLY recommend staying active enough that you are tired at the end of the day and having an alarm clock with a bright light on it, or a dawn simulation ideally with smart lighting, a special alarm clock, or a diy solution with a full spectrum lamp and an aquarium timer (guess which one I did during college). Maintaining a good schedule and waking up in the AM feeling at least reasonably well rested is paramount, everything else goes to hell if that isn't maintained, and if I'm not physically active during the day, no amount of melatonin will get me to sleep within a routine.

California Governor Unveils Emergency Rules To Ban Hemp Products With Any 'Detectable Amount' Of THC
  • I mean, agreed, but I'm working for the DOT so... Not a lot I can do about that at least until it gets rescheduled. Hopefully if it gets rescheduled people can get a federally acknowledged prescription and the ADA should take care of the rest.

  • Because products sold as non-psychoactive should generally actually be non-psychoactive. Though personally I appreciate it from the perspective of I'd like to be able to eat hemp protein without failing a drug test.

  • Science is cool, it is only pretty recently becoming possible to do in a reasonable manner thanks to the huge advances in understandings of nutrients and plant based foods.

    Moderation conflict involving c/vegan
  • I think discussing the emerging field of plant based and synthetic replication of a carnivores diet using real research is pretty clear cut not animal abuse just because it can be animal abuse if not done carefully and because you say so. (Also, I'm not a vegan and I have never fed my cat vegan food, you guys are just obnoxious though)

    I hate these icons
  • I don't love the difficulty of extremely fast individual identification but there is something to be said for the ease of extremely fast collective identification, it makes it very easy to see which group of apps each app belongs to, which is also valuable.

Amazon Contractors can't even sing in their cars now. Unions protect against this micromanagement.
  • Please don't bring NASA into this, the space program benefitted the lives of basically everyone on earth in incredible incalculable and calculable ways, from contributing to the peaceful collapse of the Soviet Union to countless technologies developed for it and as a result of it, to the birth of the environmental movement and a massive influx in people going into STEM. The US space program has probably done more for your health than socialized medicine would.

All of which is not to say that America is doing great and it shouldn't have socialized healthcare, but simply to say, keep our Apollo's name out of your mouth.

  • I don't remember a lot of details but I remember the human race ends up allying itself with a seemingly friendly alien race that agrees to give humanity advanced medicine and technology, but with the goal of slowly wiping out humanity through slowly making the species sterile. It follows a couple that is trying to conceive but has so far been unable to and the overlords keep reassuring them thR everything is fine just keep trying but the woman does digging and figures out what is happening but it's already too late. I think there is a time travel story where humanity is prevented from either coming into contact with the aliens in the first place or is warned away from making the deal.

Thank you thank you, it's driving me crazy.
