What podcasts did you listen to the most this year
  • AntennaPod is great. It's open source and has everything you need. The only ads are whatever the podcast has in them, but you can skip forward past them. I also pay for Spotify, but I still use AntennaPod for podcasts.

Complete Uber Newb wants to create an audio app for Android/IOS: Where do I begin?
  • ChatGPT should be plenty good for any foundational questions you have. And asking "how could I improve this code" with a code snippet can give you insight into better ways to do things. If you ask it for broad responses like "write me an app for relaxation sounds", I can guarantee that it won't work, but using it alongside a tutorial when you have questions or get an error can save so much time.

I'm looking at buying a sodastream - where can I find good syrups?
  • Oh how the tables have turned, America! How does it feel??

In case anybody doesn't know, this happens (or at least use to) for a lot of stuff in Canada. Or like $28 of import fees for a $13 product.

    Advice on blocking Youtube ads.
  • On my pi, I run kodi with the YouTube add-on. Then I use NewPipe on my phone which has an option to send to kodi. Too easy. I wish I could move away from kodi as it's not all that great anymore, but this flow is just too easy for me.

I used to be concerned about a game being too short. Now I worry that it will be too long.
  • Yep, kids changed it for me too. Picked up RDR2 on sale and just can't get into it. I have like an hour to play a game at a time, and I don't want to spend 20 minutes riding a horse to a destination.

I always check howlongtobeat.com before investing in a game. 10-20 hours is perfect. 80+ sounds terrible to me.

Opinion | Bank of Canada’s fight against inflation is a war on workers
  • That's quite a good solution. I've been looking at real estate lately and a lot of the lower priced homes have in their description something like "great starter home or investment property." Investors shouldn't be able to snatch up all the "starter homes". Let's let some of us get into the market!
