What he obviously meant, but phrased incorrectly: you can't create new posts from Sync. You should be able to comment on existing posts, though (doing it right now)

I have the same problem: not possible to create new post, only post replies to existing threads (and I was about to create a new post in a small community, which Sync has helped me find now (and I didn't realizer existed in the Lemmiverse)
