What Ticketmaster Doesn't Want You To Know: Concerts Were Cheap For Decades
  • Just off the top of my head, some of the bands I've seen live before moving to the US: Iron Maiden, Manowar, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Slayer, Rammstein, Uriah Heep, Volbeat, Mastodon, Alice in Chains.

All the bands I've seen live after moving to the US: Laibach, Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Both were a decade ago.

Man Arrested for Creating Fake Bands With AI, Then Making $10 Million by Listening to Their Songs With Bots
  • He didn't get arrested for AI generated music. He got arrested for faking multiple accounts to upload music and using bots to generate fake listens, thus stealing millions of dollars. If he did the same thing with music he actually wrote and played, he would still be arrested.

Texas resident used Apple AirTags to discover plastics taken to Houston recycling centers aren't being recycled
  • That's a good question. I've wondered that too. I don't know any cases of single households being fined.

I know the apartment complex I used to live in got fined for not recycling enough.

  • Just yesterday I was reminiscing with my wife about how TP rolls used to have no tube when we were children and how hard it was to find the center to put them on the holder.

  • "Observe" in the double-slit experiment means placing detectors in each slit. Once you do that, the particles start acting as particles only. Without detectors you get the interference pattern. Doesn't matter in either of the two setups if an actual human is looking at it or not.

  • Adding extra for round change was not only common, but cashiers would ask for it. But that was 20 years ago, when I still used cash. The only cash I ever see now is the one I keep around to put under my kids' pillows for their teeth.

What's an impulse purchase you've made and it turned out to be awesome?
  • Oh yeah, forgot about refinancing. So you were still able to take full advantage of that.

For me it was an extremely lucky circumstance that my company's stock hit an all time high at the same time that mortgages hit an all time low (well, not entirely luck, both events were due to covid). I would have never been able to buy a house in my area otherwise.

What's an impulse purchase you've made and it turned out to be awesome?
  • Serious question. What exactly does it do to save time? My wife treats making bread like boiling an egg. Something you can do quickly and easily whenever you need it. So I'm wondering which part of it can be simplified.

  • How would I go about removing this sink and vanity?

How are these usually attached to the wall? Can I just pry them off or would that damage the drywall?

And follow up questions: how can I reproduce that texture when painting the newly exposed areas of the wall?
