  • The first minute of it is literally them explaining multiple times that this is not actually George Carlin and it’s just an ai trained on his material so it can learn to write like him. They also trained it on his voice so it sounds like him.

I only watched a few minutes out of curiosity and was actually impressed how closely it matches his voice and style.

I’m kinda against using AI to revive a person without their express permission. So anyone who’s already dead shouldn’t be eligible.

But regardless the tech is impressive in practice it’s kind of scary.

Anyway, just writing to let you know they really hammer home that it’s not actually him.

  • It seems to be a hit randomly and depends on the game, but I only play around the house, so it’s never been a big deal. I also try not to suspend unless I’ve saved already just in case, but I’m willing to take the risk.

  • I advise everyone to contact their loved ones and inform them of this possibility. I also advise having some codeword that would be used if there was an emergency and money needs to be sent.

For example is more than $100 is being asked for we have to share the code word or we should not transfer money.

  • My dad brought me a long to some companies golf outing/ charity or something. I forget exactly it was like 15 years ago.

Well I golfed with my dad an uncle who works in the same industry and it was fun driving around getting drunk and having a beer cart show up with cold beers.

The company my uncle worked for was sponsoring the alcohol, so he just sent a text and the beer cart came our way immediately.

I think that was the last time I went golfing.

  • Not a smoker, but…

Do you drink? Like even just a few drinks per week? Try to stop drinking for 2 months. You can feel part of the addiction, there will be a kind of craving to drink.

I tried to quit caffeine a few times and failed miserably each time. Once I had a terrible headache and felt like I was slowly loosing consciousness. Luckily I was next to a Starbucks at that moment.

  • Part of it might be that the fun of it for them is creating it. Additionally it might just be a fun way to learn a certain technology.

A small part of me is interested in making an nes game, and the first step for me to learn that code would be to work on a fan project and improve existing code.

  • If they get to stay home then why can’t I?!?

    That’s really it’s about.

The only people that should be in the office are people who literally need to be there.

Like if there are physical servers and they need to be physically configured then sure the tech can go in for that.

If it’s a repair show, then sure the tech has to come in to do the repair.

    Otherwise let people stay home.

  • This policy is so frustrating for me.

I’m from the US but live in another country.

There are so many apps that are only available in one country or another so I effectively have two phones just so I can access all my banking apps and some streaming stuff.

  • Someone found some code that referenced geo-blocking features. So if you are physically in Europe, then it should work and when you are outside of Europe then it wouldn’t.

I’m not sure if they plan to use the os with way, but maybe they will.

Maybe turning on a vpn will do the trick.

I’m guessing that they will lock it to Europe for some time, but in the next iOS update roll it out world wide as they see the writing on the wall.

But Apple always seems to find a way to disappoint.

  • Why wouldn’t it count?

It’s like a side quest anyway. I do t think I ever got them all as a kid. But I still consider the game finished.

Do you really need someone else’s approval on this?

  • The suspend feature is wildly important for me.

If I had to boot a game and shut it down each time, I’d only pickup the device when I had set aside time to game.

Since I can suspend and resume whenever, I pickup my steam deck all the time. I can play in the car and just suspend when we arrive or I can play for a few minutes while waiting for a meeting to start.

I can play while my wife gets ready.

Sometimes meets get canceled or there is traffic, so gaming sessions can really stretch out into a longer play time.

If I couldn’t suspend, I wouldn’t have played in those moments.
