  • Not just for you guys but the world. The world as we know it is at stake as USA is currently the world's superpower.

  • But the Fediverse will be different. For example, instead of having one giant Politics community, we have two: politics@lemmy.world and politics@lemmy.ml, each with its own moderation style that has to respect the rules of its instance.

I think that's a lot healthier than having one giant Politics subreddit where it's hard to get involved because of the size and the immaturity of the people.

  • Indeed. It was a native app and it was such a polished gem. Christian's vision from the beginning was to make the perfect Reddit IOS app for Reddit and he made it happen.

  • That's a different thing, Lemmy.world is defederating from hexbear. Here, the problem is to connect directly to hexbear.

  • That's the beauty of the Fediverse. Read this page: https://lemmy.world/legal. If you don't agree with it, feel free to find an instance that suits your need.

  • Well, time to move to Mars.

  • You need the know context. Canada's has universal healthcare and it costs taxpayers too much money to treat cigarette related illnesses.

  • ... what?! Canada has universal health care and it costs taxpayers too much money to treat cigarette related illnesses. It's all about educating the population about the risk and having a healthier population.

  • It reminds me of Google back in the day (probably early 2010s). If you searched for White Women, it returned professional and respectable images. But if you searched for Black Women, it returned explicit images.

Machine learning algorithms are like sponges and learn from existing social biases.

  • Well, it's a community about Reddit. It's a collective help group to move on from Reddit.

  • There is definitely something wrong with your computer. I have an old Macbook Pro that I bought in 2014 and I have never had a problem with it waking up from sleep.

  • If you look at the structure of the BBC, it's an INDEPENDENT, publicly funded news organisation. The government has no say in its editorial. It has exposed many British government scandals in the past.

  • I'm still using my iPhone 8 Plus that I bought in 2017 and it still serves well since I don't play games.
