  • Exactly! They even took care to provide you with convenience scripts for further setup with very detailed description right after you open the terminal.

Enabling TPM based disk decryption, secureboot, upgrading everything etc etc is waiting for you just one command away starting with ujust

  • This is the way!

I professionally maintain Linux kernel and custom drivers for embedded applications. I fell in love with Aurora on my first run and chosen Bazzite for my brand new Nvidia gaming PC. This will also be my office/web browsing/dev machine when not gaming.

Why? I am tired of managing / sysadmining Linux OS and don’t want to bring the job to my free time (although it looks like my MoBo could use a kernel patch for supporting fan speeds controller hee hee). Bazzite and siblings are the first distros I stumbled upon that flawlessly supported GSync and nvidia graphics out of the box without changing a single option. The defaults are sane, customization is easy. The whole general idea around how these distros are redesigned solve many many pain points that many uses are yet to experience with standard / "legacy" ones. I am more hyped about them than I was when I first discovered NixOS.

Atomic distros like this IMHO should be the default choice now for new Linux gamers. Period.

  • Unpopular opinion: people new to Linux should chose or be introduced to atomic distros for their resistance against user fuckups. Whatever the fuck you do, there is ALWAYS a backup snapshot waiting to be booted.

Flathub behaves like ms store, linuxbrew like chocolatey, teach users that they no longer install apps by downloading them from web and we are golden? Oh, and system and app updates are invisible to the user, MacOS-like convenience!

  • In lemmyverse? This thread seems to be one? :) everyone looks to be respectful so far.

Other than that the communities I subscribe to…

it really caught me off guard when I saw comments directly attacking Mystic without even addressing the question, I was not prepared for this shit! Like if there was some history that I missed and I just relit an old flamewar or something

EDIT: yeah I just scrolled down… nevermind my first part of this message

  • Thanks for coming here and providing your PoV.

After reading the comments on YPTB I can only say this: the f is wrong with some people… I must be living in some bubble where people can have sane reasonable discussion even if they disagree.

I understand you are trying to build communities and defend them against users with ill-intent. I don’t know what your ambitions are as far as the target size of these communities goes, but I just thought that banning users like described simply sends a bad message and, unfortunately, brings unnecessary attention to your person (especially if user does not agree or understands a reason for a ban). Forgive me for inadvertently being a part of the problem.

On the other hand, if you are right that some users made it a hobby out of downvoting all posts from your community and we both want to provide a space for it on Lemmy (on any instance), then this potentially calls for some software feature? Like joinable, discoverable but semi-private communities that don’t appear on "all" with limited voting and posting rights for non-members? I don’t know - you tell me what would be your dream scenario! But definitively I don’t believe you can have it both ways, be totally open and not exposed, especially for controversial themes.

Lastly, allow me to address you as a person. Please don’t understand me wrong as my wording might upset you but I really mean good for you. If you are going through some hardships in your life - don’t ever let the trolls see you are vulnerable. In general, the social media, be it federated or corporate, is not a good place to seek support or publicly confess intimate details of your life. If you really have to because you find that helpful, at least make a second account not used for moderation. Don’t feed the trolls.

    Love.

P.S. - you can probably unban me if you are not mad at me, I promise to behave ;)

Moderation policies vs enforcement of instance rules.

    Ye Power Trippin' Bastards @lemmy.dbzer0.com

Are we all "Anti-AI Trolls"? Enforcement of instance rules and community standards.

  • It’s worse than that, according to the article the idea is to literally steal a part of current tax revenue of the member states and redirect it directly as an EU budget. This proposal will not go through, it would be extremely strange if member states agreed on this.

  • If this goes through, I expect a closer look will be taken on other predatory practices concerning selling software (which games ultimately are) and possibly a precedent allowing to clearly put a hard stop to American understanding of "copyright" (as a "right to copy") and full embracement of native European originated "authorship rights", backed by current existing law for many many years in many of the members states. US anti-piracy organizations will not be happy, so following this line of thought - please prepare for a hard, dirty, unfair fight, with suspicious figures appearing with their backing to sabotage our efforts.

Longshot, but with this said, VP mentions SKG? That’s good, we need publicity! Let them understand we cannot be ignored and you don’t mess with gamers who were trained by their love for gaming to be stubborn, resilient and never give up.

    This is important:

… but it's clear MEPs are becoming aware that they need to engage with the issue and work out where they stand.

  • Uhmmm… I am not an expert, but what if use a second drone, one for TX and one for RX? Isn’t it just what IceEye does in the space with satellites? With GPS based time synchronization this could not only be feasible but at least decrease the noise floor from lack of TX-RX leakage. Would it also increase the angular resolution? Any other benefits?

  • I don’t even understand the OPs argument. We are generally respectful towards other people and communities, lack of defederation is the best proof. Why would OP want to defederate with db0 even if as OP said, doesn’t even know if AI content is something of concern or not?

EDIT: even better, OP is not a registered user of .world…
