  • I wouldn't say not good, I can use the same brushes etc. in Procreate as well. It's more a personal preference of display-less tablet and keyboard! I use a ton of shortcuts in quick succession and found this doesn't work too well in Procreate : )

  • Thank you! : ) I did the rough sketch in Procreate and the rendering in CSP!

I don't keep track on how long a drawing takes me, but it's been a few days on-and-off working on it, so I'd say like 10ish hours?

I'm a beginner and want to crochet a cardigan - stumped on what yarn to use and the expenses that come with it
  • This is a great store, thank you for sharing! And seems like they might also ship to my place (tho probably at horrendous shipping rates, I'll have to check on that hahah) Either way it's good to get an overview of available yarns, so really thanks a lot!

  • Thank you so much for your help! May I ask, do you see any way to achieve the patterns gauge with 8sts x 6rows on 4"x4" with 6mm hook? It says with front loop stitches, does that actually make a huge difference? I did make a test patch, but had double the gauge size (16sts x 12rows). Now, it looks nice this way, but after using up a whole skein to estimate the needed yarn, I realized it would actually be more than ~210€ worth of it, which just seems so much to me 😅 but that's why I'm asking, I have actually no idea how much is usually needed.

  • Thank you so much! Yea unfortunately they don't ship to my place : ( that's like my main problem, I can't seem to get the recommended yarns here. But from what y'all tell me the wool price is about what I have to expect for this project! (and the aran yarn I found isn't much cheaper really)

Tho I have to admit, I have decided to go for a different cardigan now, one that doesn't need as much material 😅 I've used up the wool skein I had to see how much I can make with it, and it turns out I would probably need more like over ~210€ worth of yarn (damn that nice looking floor length hahah). I want to get back to it later tho, when I'm more confident in my crocheting knowledge and have a bit of money on the side!

Thank you for your good luck wishes! When I finish one of the cardigans, I'm happy to share here!

  • Thank you, this is extremely helpful! I've never made a piece of clothing before, so I have a hard time telling how much it would cost. Even just knowing that this is generally about how much I have to spend is worth a lot! I was looking at cotton before actually, but neither online nor at the store I could really find colors I liked. And since they weren't a lot cheaper, I thought I might as well pay a little more and get a color I really like.

Only the gauge has me really confused. From what I've looked up, I feel like 8sts x 6rows is very little for 10x10cm, with the wool I got for testing I would need twice as much.

Hi there! I hope it's ok to ask this here. I've been wanting to crochet an almost floor length cardigan, so I would need a lot of yarn. The pattern said they used a Level 4/Worsted weight yarn and had a gauge of 8 stitches and 6 rows on 4"x4". Now, I can't really find out what equals as worsted weight yarn here in Europe, and the ones I found all feel too thin to achieve that gauge. I've been to a local store where they recommended some cotton yarn and wool to me that should be equal to worsted weight. Now the thing is, they are quite expensive and I still can't get close to that gauge, meaning I would need even more. However, what I found of WW yarn, they all seem to be acrylic and honestly not much cheaper.

So I'm currently a little stumped, am I looking for the wrong things or do I have to face the fact that this cardigan would cost me about 180€ of yarn?

    Mottenmaul - rough character concept
  • Thanks a lot! It's an idea for a Blades in the Dark character, haven't thought too much about their backstory yet other than they are Tycherosi (people often seen as strange and demonic) and that they probably dealt with death and corpses in the deathlands (preset area from the game). Might think more on it later/make it an independent character!

  • I've looked them up a bit and I love the idea that they can also just be rewaxed! However, I gotta admit I think right now they are a bit too expensive for me. Most of them easily cost two or three times as much as the technical jackets I've been looking at. I will do some more research tho, and definitely keep that kind of clothing in mind just because I think it's a really cool way to make them weatherproof

  • Good evening folks! I am looking for a decent waterpoof jacket but getting kinda stumped at the options.

While I would mainly use it for just taking walks, I do want something a little better that I could possibly use on hikes and such as well (might as well get a better one right away in case I ever decide to do something like that).

Now, I've found Jack Wolfskin have some nice looking ones (in particular the Elsberg 2,5l), but opinions on the brand seem to differ a lot.

So I wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a good brand I can get in Europe that fits my budget and delivers decent quality. Thanks everyone in advance!

  • I'm thinking of taking a holiday in Scotland, but frankly, I have no idea what I'd be doing there (nor have I ever been on holiday somewhere else tbh, so I'd love to do some planning beforehand). I really want to enjoy the nature and landscapes there and I'm sure there must be a few not so tourist-y gems I could plan on visiting.

TLDR: CPU frequency on newer notebooks always at 1.6+GHz; fans are always on and loud; Is it a CPU problem?

Edit: Thanks for the replies so far! After looking for alternatives we've been eyeing the Razer Blade 14, Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus M16. If anyone has some experience with one of those devices, please let us know. Thank you!

    Hello everyone!

Me and an acquaintance have recently bought new notebooks, one with an i9 13900H and one with an i7 12700H. We were both pretty unhappy with how loud the fans were even when basically doing nothing (had one tab in Firefox and the taskmanager open - using Windows 11). We found out, that the idle frequency of the CPUs on both devices was constantly quite high (min. 1.6GHz, most of the time even more, even though hwinfo tests showed that they should go down to ~0.8GHz). Our old notebooks (i7 8750, i7 7700) and a newer Thinkpad (i5 12500) don't have this issue - the frequency drops to 0.8GHz and the fans turn off and stay silent. It's possible to browse, code and do everything else that does not create much load on the CPU without the fans spinning up at all.

On all devices we used various tweaks (turning turbo boost off etc.), but it shows no effect on newer models.

So now we're wondering if this is normal for newer notebooks (after 2018) or if there was something off with those notebooks in particular. Could AMD CPUs be better in that aspect?

We've both already returned those notebooks and can't do further testing (tho even with the manufacturer support we found no solution).

If anyone has some more experience with that topic and maybe some insight on what we should look out for on new notebooks, any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
