I must thank Riot Games for giving me a taste of what it's like to not play league of legends, how much more productive I became. I do have a windows partition, but I already quit playing league some months ago. This is not much more than the nail in the coffin. I have been able to do things with my life previously filled by an addictive game. It was sapping all of my intellectual energy away while keeping me in an addictive, flashy gambling cycle.
It wont do shit to stop cheaters, and it was probably to some degree product of tim sweeney and his ignorance of cheaters and linux users. They are blocking their ass but leaving their dick in full view. Nobody likes vanguard. Windows gamers probably hate it even more than linux gamers. I mean, who even encountered cheaters in league of legends?? I played for hundreds of hours and did not encounter one. This is unnecessary and a horrible decision for PR
it looks like they've at least pinned down the problem! this is good news
larping aside, this could perhaps just be a mistake by riot. maybe they just forgot to push the patch to the PBE servers and so now the same issue happened again
This issue was never fixed on pbe. maybe mods just don't have pbe accounts?? I thoroughly disagree with them re-closing the subreddit. this could have had at least some helpful information much earlier. this "protest" has done nothing but hurt our own ability to address problems by half-baking a rule of "we will only open the sub when the absolute worst happens." Well here's the absolute worst....
I've reinstalled, used both lutris-ge-lol-p8-12 and lutris-ge-lol-8.7.1. I've also given every file in my PBE wineprefix full permissions. My debug logs don't seem to give anything hugely useful on the lutris side. I have a memory dump provided by league of legends, but no idea on how to read it. I've also tried to use directx9 legacy mode, and tried overriding d3d10 and d3d11, but none of this changed anything.
If anyone could point me in a good direction to further troubleshoot i'm happy to try to help. I'm not exactly looking for a support request, but I'm definitely interested on trying to get things working again.
