Intel might be too big to fail — Washington policymakers are already discussing potential solutions if the chipmaker cannot recover
  • I love that paranoia and xenophobia. As if a corrupt domestic company is somehow magically better than a corrupt international company.

It's been quite obvious over the past few years that yes there's potentially some risk of foreign countries trying to install spy code, but actually that doesn't seem to happen very often, and what's much more damaging to our society are large corporations that use their power to screw over the general public, and most of these large corporations are domestic.

Are the people voting third party in the US election going to suddenly stop commenting on Nov 6th when their candidate obviously loses?
  • Even if everything you wrote is true, none of it applies to the United States because we have the electoral college. Sorry, but it's not Europe, and we have our own weird system.

If Trump wins the election thru fraud how can the democrats refute it and prove they won? Or will it just be like another Jan 6 and four years of whining like Trump?
  • First, don't panic. Harris and her staff, and Democrats around the country, they have planned for many shady actions on Trump's part. Details are scarce because they don't want Trump staff to have a heads up.

And then everything depends on the details.

But remember, anything that looks like a coup d'etat could easily get the military or spy agencies involved. And if they move, it doesn't matter what SCOTUS says. As a result, it's very hard to predict what would happen in various extra dramatic situations. There is no precedent; precedent wouldn't mean anything anyway.

When people vote third party do they ever get tired of the crowds of people cheering and the thunderous applause they receive after leaving the voting booth?
  • Why would they waste time trying to explain? The problem lies with your understanding, not their actions.

But look, I've voted third party a lot, and I could tell you what other activities I do to make the world a better place. If I did, would you stop saying this kind of thing in the future? Do you promise?

What is stopping the vice president from ever murdering the president?
  • That's not what the Supreme Court said, though. Only official acts have absolute immunity. Murder is not usually an official act.

And as always, if you're talking about a coup d'etat, the question is if the military or spy agencies will kill you before, during, or after it. When the rule of law is out the window, you must expect physical violence.

Democrats start to point fingers even as they hope for Harris win
  • And this story itself is a weak attempt to undercut Democrat voting. We all know what mistakes were made when, and we all know that people will blame others if they need to. That's old news. The obvious reason to report on it right now is as clickbait, which has the obvious side effect of discouraging potential voters.

I also think that Biden's comment can only help her. She's trying to unify people, and he isn't. It's hard to believe there's anyone out there who will change their vote, or potentially stay home, because he's trash talking.

So now I'm pointing a finger at The Hill, and the cycle continues.___

"No, I'm not doing nothing I'm raising awareness!"
  • Right right and many of the posts that we've seen here over the past 3 months forget about that key point, which is just an insult to the majority of voters in the United States.

And that's how the Democrats can lose political support. That's how they can alienate potential allies.

"No, I'm not doing nothing I'm raising awareness!"
  • I understand your feelings, and sometimes I feel the same way. But what you didn't tell us is the steps you've taken to make life better for people in Palestine and neighboring countries who are dying now.

If you want to argue that Harris is the lesser of two evils and that you're also working to prevent her from being as evil as she has been in the past, you actually have to say that. Or don't say it, and we'll assume that you're doing nothing because you don't care, and the future is going to be just like the past, which is not acceptable.

  • I wish that more people could see that there aren't two sides. Neither side is on your side, nobody is on your side, and you can think you're on their side but it just doesn't work that way.

Is it okay to take drugs to make yourself a better person? Does it make a difference if "better" is mental or if it's physical?
  • I think you answered your own question. If taking drugs actually makes you a better person, of course it's OK. That's true for both physical and mental considerations.

But look, you put everything into one definition. What is "better", who decides, and how do they decide? If you don't have anywhere to go, you probably won't get there. Or maybe you will get there but you won't realize it.

There is much debate on all kinds of drugs, but I can tell you that some of my friends have had various experiences that are relevant. For several friends, acid or shrooms helped them deal with some harsh trauma. For several other friends, various uppers helped them handle ADHD relatively effectively. But of course we all have different problems and goals, so the burden is right back on you to figure out what you want to do. There's no way around this basic fact of life.

Can you think of any titles from real journal articles or essays that are eye-catching?

I'm writing a document for high school students taking an English writing class, and rather than create my own examples, why not use real ones? Several of my students have expressed frustration, and I have some guidelines and brainstorming tools, but what I don't have are two dozen neat examples.
