Learning to flip things in any cookware is still a work in progress for me, but it always gives impressively better results when I can manage it, so it's something I want to master!
This one's new to me; I love it!
I find that also cuts down on how much your eyes water (for the onions)
Pasta water as an emulsifier was also a huge technique for me :)
A lot of good cooking is in technique. What's something that you discovered or was told that really changed something meaningful for you? For me, I had struggled a lot to make omelettes. They always wound up becoming scrambled eggs because I sucked at flipping them over to cook on the other side (I like my eggs cooked pretty well so this was important to me.) Finally, watching someone else make an omelette, I noticed they didn't flip it. They put a lid on the pan, turned the heat down, and let the top cook that way. I tried it myself and now I make almost perfect omelettes every time. Have you had anything like this happen to you? If so, what was it?
There have been many times I've passed on something because it had a subscription fee but would have bought as a one time purchase. I feel like everyone's forgotten that it's an option.
I'm with you on the confusion because it's like... I don't feel the need to act this way, why do other people? What drives them that, in a void, they resort to these thoughts and behaviors? Is this who they really are, or is it an act, like doing an evil playthrough in a game. "I want to because I can here, and I can't anywhere else?"
Last time I asked that the only thing they liked was that I briefly held a job that wasn't related to the field at all. It was working at a library. "I thought that was neat."
That was it. Nothing else was noteworthy.
My memories are dim but I think Jehovah's Witnesses take this stance as well.
It's more likely than you may think.
First one is a screencap from Overly Sarcastic Productions. I sadly don't remember where the second one came from.
I agree.
Isn't that just what Firefox was before it was Firefox?
We're really fortunate that our cat loves to gnosh on toys that will scrape her teeth; she's on an all wet diet to help with bowel issues. Of course I still toss her a few greenies treats every other night because she goes nuts for them and it can't hurt.

A waitress is holding a steaming pile of food on a tray, while Everett sits at a dining table, a frown on his face. Waitress: We didn't have any spring chicken, Mr. True, So I brought some boneless canned- Everett punches the tray out of her hands, throwing the contents up onto the ceiling, knocking his chair and table askew in the process. Everett: Take it away!! TAKE IT AWAY!!!! Do you think I'm a scavenger? None of it for me! I read, the papers, I do!!!
I've read it and listened to the audiobook and it really is great. Yes there are some dry parts but they bring their signature flare to helping to understand which makes getting through it a lot easier.
I've been enjoying Tidal after switching.
Is anyone else completely unable to register on chexsystems? Usually when this happens I can't tell if it's because of my privacy settings or a legitimate fuckup on the server's end.
Agreed, I think maybe they should consider trying to get into therapy. A good therapist will help you not only feel seen for your struggles, but work with you to make movement against the things that are preventing you from trying to make a positive change.
I've been complimented on my voice before, and those aren't weird compliments. But delivery is important. I had a coworker tell me, "Your voice is great!" And of course I'm thankful. But then deadpan, she goes, "You should do ASMR so I can listen to it."
Now that was a weird compliment.
I've always wanted to throw an Afternoon Tea party. Does anyone have any experience doing so that they'd be willing to share? I just want to hear the stories. I'm not sure if I'll ever really get the chance; none of my friends are local to me, so I'd probably just be hosting for my mom in law and sister in law, but a tiny tea party could still be fun!
Hello! I have a very low mileage, but older car (about 33k miles and it's a 2011 Chevy Cruze.) I have no real interest in purchasing a new car but I do kind of wish I had some of the bells and whistles of a newer car. We have an excellent local place who can do installations of electronics in cars; I've gotten a remote starter with them on my last car and it worked great.
Do you guys recommend after market upgrades in my situation at all? If so what kinds of things you would recommend (in general or brands of things.) If nothing else I really want another remote starter for the winter, but it's been so long since the last one I had, I don't know how different they are. (My old one had a fob!)
In terms of usage, I mostly just use my car to drive to appointments and get groceries, hence why the mileage is so low.
What the heck is going on over at Reddit with posts getting downvoted so hard? And I'm not talking about obvious troll posts, or spam, or things you'd expect to get downvoted. A lot of them are just questions being posed to the community in question. I glance into the feed and there's a ton of posts with 0 upvotes and a bunch of comments. Is this bots or is the community over there getting THAT toxic, even on the hobby subs?
I have a 2 cup pyrex but the spout on it is absolutely terrible. I've also heard modern pyrex kind of sucks anyway, so I'm looking for recommended brands to replace it with. Any suggestions?
