  • The statistics probably come from the farms where they keep the animals in one place and they bring their food there. Cattle can be successfully used in land regeneration with the rotational grazing systems. I do agree many eat too much meat, but not anyone does well on a vegan diet. I don’t. I rather eat it moderately and buying quality meat from happy animals.

Meat is a highly dense food source and has lots of essentials elements to human health. And in case of the cows, if they are fed as they should with grass, they transform a not digestible food for humans into a highly digestible one.

People that raise them for their own consumption will not overeat meat probably, because they know how much it takes to raise them well and they have a different kind of respect for the animal than someone buying pieces of meat in a supermarket.

I am very skeptical about statistics like these, because they are not nuanced, as the reality is. It’s like when they said eggs raise cholesterol. What they did not say is that they tested it by giving rabbits(a herbivore) egg yolks. And people then start spreading the misinformation.

  • I am a woman and I know what misogyny is, I’ve experienced it many times. But I don’t think the solution is to do gatekeeping. I like to be among women with good vibes, but I also like to be among men with good vibes. As an engineer I worked among men all the time and I never thought of them in terms of gender, or superiority. They were my colleagues, as the few women in the office too. One could find assholes in both of the genders. One could find intelligent or stupid among both.

I understand that phisically there are differences, in strength and maybe size(although there are variations in both men ans women), but mentally there is absolutely no reason to keep competitions separate. Sports it’s probably complicated, but I don’t watch sports, I rather do them than watch others do it, so I will not share any opinion on which is the best approach.

I was subscribed to a community here on Lemmy, with women topics. In one of the posts there was a gentleman offering some kind words and praise to the OP I think. And he was thanked and then told to please not post anymore there, since it is a women only space. It actually infuriated me. Instead of rewarding the men who support women and have kind words about them, we are shutting them down? I immediately blocked that community. I don’t want that kind of shit in my life.

I know we all have our issues that we have to work on, but we should try not to drag innocent people into our battles.

  • I’m learning French, when I remember to. I did not put too much effort into it until now, because I understand a lot from articles, conversations, youtube videos. It is similar to Spanish, which I learnt up to native level I guess, also mostly speaking without a foreign accent. But back to French, I find it very hard to write it, so many accents and ‘s and letters that are not read. I have what they call a “musical ear”, so I do distinguish a lot of sound variations and tones, but the writing in French is brutal.

Another language I will forever learn and not be able to get to it as with my Spanish or English is German. I mess up the articles all the time, I am sure, but I just keep going. I am perfectly comfortable reading German literature or having a conversation, but it bothers me that after so much time being exposed to it, I still make poor choices of articles.

I started at some point learning Portuguese, but I found it frustrating that it was so similar to Spanish, all the words would come in Spanish in my mind.

If I could, I would love to also know Greek, Danish, Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic and many others probably.

  • Especially there. I’ve seen older versions of the movie and read the book, and she was just not believable. For me at least. That is what I expect from an actor, to be believable and let me immerse myself in the story. It does not happen with her.
