  • You're not accounting for lurkers which make up ≈80% of any social media site from what I remember. So you end up with what 50 million people actually posting as humans. That is easily outweighed by a significantly smaller portion of bots because they can post continuously.

  • So what should be done so that authors and inventors are fairly compensated under our current economic system? I am not in support of capitalism to be clear but we are stuck with it for the foreseeable future and I don't want small authors to have large companies just steal their books and reprint them.

  • IP is important in the current capitalist world. In an ideal world I absolutely think IP would be abolished but without it there would be no way for a small company to make something and not have it stolen out from under them by a mega corp.

I do not think current IP law is perfect or even very good now but under capitalism it is something that is necessary. Even in open source it matters because without it all the licenses in the world would not matter.

  • I would think/hope that you guys could at least maintain the submarine independently. Your sailors went through the same training as the US ones do for operating. and as far as I understand it (which is better than most people) subs don't really get refueled. Carriers do but by the time a sub needed to refuel it wouldn't be worth while simply because the technology has advanced so far.

Hopefully more of the western world invests into its own navy because as it stands the US is such an overwhelming force that I understand why everyone is so hesitant to stand up against us.

  • Its titles like this that kinda make me understand why some republicans think climate change is all about controlling people. Like obviously there is more nuance to it than that but who writes that and thinks it's a good headline.

  • for refrence Walmart has had me in the "applied" stage of resumee review on their shitty website for nearly a month. I don't think people quite get how bad it is. I had to wait for a spot to open up to interview at McDonalds that I'm still waiting for because the closest one was two weeks out.

  • Part of it has to be that it's fucking expensive. I know it's not exactly a one to one comparison but I live in a legal recreational state. It's 25$ (including tax) for a 1G vape. that's a lot less than that amount to get equivalently intoxicated with alcohol.
