What have you learned recently? Which rabbit hole have you been digging into?
  • Yes he did. Its the holes. The holes move.

But beyond circuits I, the OC is right. It quickly gets into field theory, where electricity in wires is just a special case.

FCC lets Starlink provide service to cell phones in areas hit by hurricane
  • The FCC governs all (non-government use) frequencies in the US - terrestrial and satellite.

However, the emergency waiver probably has more to do with the cell bands than satellite. Normally the cell frequencies are heavily regulated and planned to avoid interference between carrier towers. Having a satellite suddenly start broadcasting on the frequencies that your phone uses is going to confuse the neck out of the terrestrial network - unless that network happens to be washed away by a flood.

Would it be weird if I took something my neighbor put out for trash?
  • I put trash on the curb knowing the kids next door will pick it up and use it. They love to score new stuff, and I love seeing an old bicycle or chair getting new love.

How I Use Git Worktrees - Alex Kladov
  • I guess I don't understand this feature. Is there an advantage in using worktrees rather than multiple clones? Is it mainly for IDE integration?

    The reality of modern tech
  • I have a theory that this is the next iteration of Internet. A private internet linked by vpn over the public Internet. Probably already exists in some form over Tor or in dusty Pirate communities. All we need is a no-commercial-entities clause and a Yahoo clone and we could rock like it's 1994!

    xkcd #2880: Sheet Bend
  • Brilliant! I'd use that as Carsick Mode myself. Maybe then I could read a map in the passenger seat without hurling into the driver's lap.
