  • The tactile response is what's useful, so for people using the panel with gloves, say I want a directional control for navigating a menu I can just throw down some arrow keys and have a lot of options for keycaps if I don't need it sealed. I try to make things relatively easy to repair so using parts which are commonly available is a plus.

  • I use mechanical switches when I'm making a panel or something on a device that I don't want to break after getting pressed a bunch. Membrane switches just break a lot, and for industrial applications (ie gloves, metallic dust, operating by touch) capacitive panels can be unreliable.

A question for the "vegan/communist" sphere of influence: is child adoption just not a thing?
  • I don't know that there's a "vegan culture" but I'm vegan, and communist, and I don't see why that would be at odds with adoption.

No Sign Of Forced Labour At Xinjiang Site, Says VW
  • "The employees are paid above average and have little to do," Loening said, noting that the plant was only used for "technical commissioning and deliveries to dealers in the region".

"We were unable to identify any special security measures," he added.

    Is the instance hexbear conservative?
  • It's that brazenness which makes me feel compelled to respond. If you live in the US, claim to be on the left and can't even call for an end to your own government for its crimes I have no interest in your contributions.

Communists that believe "gender freedoms" are bourgeoisie decadence
  • I'd remind these communists that a lot of the leaders of the transgender movement in the US were or ended up communists, and that 'gay rights' didn't just cynically materialize in the US birthed from decadance- they were fought for against state violence. The liberals co-opted and assimilated the movement and communists should be pointing to that example for the desperate need for radical organizing. "gay marriage" and participating in the military is explicitly not what radical queers wanted, and rainbow capitalism is not the movement.

Stonewall was a riot in one of the few mob-run gay bars that trans girls frequented. Police violence has been a constant feature of trans life and continues to be an issue to this day- unless you're rich and white enough. Does that sound like bourgeois decadence or is there a class distinction at work? Queers who assimilate and say the right things get a seat at the table, the rest of us absolutely are not have our voices expressed by the actions of pretty much any western governments.

I have a lot of complaints about the west using trans people as a football to score points with a facade of tolerance. It really takes refusing to play their game.
