I honestly don't see how this data is any worse then regular location data.
Everybody goes grocery shopping, only few get abortions, and only one of these groups is getting harassed for it.
Protesting something you disagree with should not be a crime unless you are becoming violent.
Violence has many facets. Harassment ist violence and it's done by pro-lifers.
Someone seeking an abortion can always just ignore someone begging them not to do it just like they can ignore a salesman in a mall.
This is crazy. The pro-life protests are not at all comparable to a vacuum salesman.
I agree that data collection is a good security measure in this case. But privacy friendly does not necessarily mean there is no data collected. Important is that nothing is shared with 3rd parties and all data is well protected.
Can't say for sure. Everything is considered an object in anytype. As I understand it every line of text, every bullet point could be its own file. Instead of one markdown file for each page like obsidian does. How this will affect the syncing I can't say.
Right now you can't turn off the built-in sync with their servers (except by blocking traffic with a firewall). So there isn't really anything to gain in hosting the files yourself.
They plan to implement 3rd party sync though and there seems to be a docker image to self host, that would likely be a better option. https://doc.anytype.io/anytype-docs/data-and-security/data-storage-and-deletion/self-hosting
Been using it on a daily basis for many months now. It has proven to be reliable for me
