What are the most mindblowingly creative, inventive, or otherwise otherworldly albums you know of?
  • The most recent one that comes to my mind is HEADACHE - The head hurts but the heart knows the truth

Nvidia Shield is getting Auro 3D audio support, full-screen ads - FlatpanelsHD
  • Those ads are probably displayed by google's launcher, you can easily disable it from adb and use any other launcher you like. I personally use FLauncher, I love how simple it is, I don't need anything else

[misleading headline?] Nvidia Shield is getting Auro 3D audio support, full-screen ads
  • Same here, one other improvement I would recommend is remapping the Netflix button to something less annoying/more useful in case you press it accidentally. If you have Hue lights, you could make it toggle your lights with this app for example.

What type of YouTube videos have high replay value and are worth downloading?
  • Probably tracking, Spotify urls have included this for a while now.
The value seems to be different every time you share something so it must include a timestamp.
I always remove this part of urls before sharing them because they could potentially help identify you on any other website where you paste it.

Everytime I post a thread from my kbin account, I get an error, and the content doesn't appear in the community i posted in.
  • Okay, seems to be related to posting images instead of links. My links posted to other instances are displayed everywhere, my image posts only appear on kbin.

  • I have the same issue, I posted to Lemmy communities from my kbin account and my posts are visible on kbin but not on the server I posted to.

Here's my posts history on 2 different servers, both are incomplete:

America's richest 10% are responsible for 40% of its planet-heating pollution, new report finds
  • This, and most of China's carbon emissions come from the production of goods for the rest of the world, so they're not the only ones "responsible" for those 50%.

  • I recently tried putting ficus cuttings in water and was surprised at how quickly they made new roots. They are now potted and grow pretty fast

Are there any climatologists in the room? What is your job like? What do you do? How were your studies?
  • Hey, I sent your post to my scientist friend who said this. Hope that helps

"I am an atmospheric scientist myself, and studied meteorology. I took some climatology courses during my studies. I think that to get most out from those courses , you should think about taking some courses in basic atmospheric dynamics (take a look e.g. at Holton's introduction to dynamic meteorology; maybe its not that hard given your background). My work has loads of variability as I conduct various measurements, perform data analysis and model simulations to investigate atmospheric phenomena (not that much pure climatology). Programming is an essential skill, of course in addition to knowing the basic science, familiarising oneself with recent literature, and connecting new findings to those. It's quite fun. Of course job security is not really a thing, and might be better in weather forecasting. Good luck! :)"
