What's the Best Non-Alcoholic Alternative to an Ice Cold Beer at the End of the Day?

  • I’d assume social media promotion is a big one. I also found some authors through kindle unlimited years back that I now follow.

    I like programming.dev and what's happening on my "local" instance, but once i check of what's happening in the wild (other instances) I am reluctant to recommend lemmy to others.
  • I hit All occasionally to see if there’s a community that catches my eye, it’s rare but it does happen so I’ll subscribe.

    I also block the ones I have absolutely zero interest in ever seeing again. It’s simple to do.

  • Not sure I have a favorite really, but I tend to enjoy the chapters that follow Perrin or Matt more than the other parts of the books.

    In general, I’m enjoying all the books so far though, reading them straight through.

  • The Path of Daggers, book 8 of Wheel of Time. I’m maybe 4 or 5 chapters in so got a ways to go.

  • These laws are disgusting. The only silver lining is that, at least for digital items, the resources can be found outside of libraries fairly easily from sources that don't require age verification.

    FYI: Lemmy.world and other instances were hacked. Beehaw.org took itself down to mitigate risks
  • Security is crazy hard and having perfect security is impossible. Kudos to the dev team for resolving this so quickly.

  • If the changes in one app will never be pulled into the other, completely separated would probably be fine but I’d personally just fork it due to sheer laziness.

  • JFC. That's like a 3/5th screen advertisement with enough room for 1 fucking post. Might as well only show ads at that point.
