  • This is what really hit me reading Mark Twain's autobiography when he started describing the atrocities by the US government against Native Americans.

His autobiography was dictated to a stenographer which he then edited later. This way it has the feeling of a simple discussion with Twain, and because of this the discussion of tragedy as a current event, just as you and I would chat over a coffee, really hits home how little we've changed.

  • I know we have a decent amount of science pointing to this breaking the mind, but I can't help but wonder if anything would change knowing an unimaginably great prize was waiting on the other side. How long would it take to count to 30 billion...

  • When I was young my parents encouraged me to watch Marx Brothers, Three Stooges, and Abbott & Costello. These are easy things for children to watch because the physical comedy is universal.

As I got older my love for them remained, but also it gave me a love for media from any age. So long as it's done reasonably I think this sort of thing can be quite enriching.

  • It's the one thing I never really understood when I read about it in history classes. The blatant hypocrisy, particularly how fascism is obsessed with "strong men" while worshipping the whiniest manchildren. It seemed important because it was a top comment by people who lived through it, but I never understood it until Trump.
