As for Chad McTruth, his level of sarcasm/parody or whatever, is way way too advanced for me. I legit can never figure out who's he's making fun of. He's fucking good at what he does. I am not nearly clever enough for his kind of thinking.

Right?! They don't even give a real reason now. Just putting "Universal Monk" as the ban reason feels so lazy to me. And honestly, back before the election—when I was supposedly so controversial—nothing I said or posted even came close to the shit I see people saying on Lemmy now.

If anyone goes back and looks at my posts, where I supposedly caused all that "trouble," it’s laughable compared to the hardcore stuff people say today. Like people were legit pissed that I liked the Green Party and then the Socialist party. People ended up writing programs to track me, asking for investigations into me (still happens, someone just asked a guy to write a Lemmy program to investigate me a few days ago), noting times I posted, telling me that I would die on the war front in Russia, saying that I was trying trying to destroy Lemmy, etc.

And look at Lemmy now, baby! lol

I just wanna point out for everyone who actually may think that, it wasn't to provoke a reaction. It was literally so I can have all my fiction in one place (decided to move my writing the piefed instance, feddit.online, now).

I didn't post anywhere or anything controversial. I posted a green party news article about trees, a socialist article about energy, and then 2 or 3 of my short fiction stories.

Edit: the double voting is my way of showing a lack of respect in this situation.

And that's very much against most comms rules. I'm not saying your point was wrong, but the way you approached it was.

I'm gonna have to say BRP just based on that. The fact that you took Lemmy so seriously that you went to the trouble to use an alt just to "show disrespect to someone" is cringe. This ain't prison, man.

I say bring them back. If people don't like them, it's super easy for individual users to just instance-block.

.ee went away. Dubvee.org (which was a great place) went away just today. Lemmy is breaking down, and all this separation will just hasten the demise. There are plenty of tools for people to individually block things they don't like.

So my vote is for re-federating them! And thank you for bringing this up!

Admiral Patrick, is shutting down their lemmy instance dubvee in part due to patterns of people assuming bad faith in online discourse.

Looks like he left early too. It was said that he was leaving July 31st, but the dubvee instance is no longer loading as of right now. It totally sucks that Lemmy ran him off. We need more like him on here!

Having said that, I feel the same way you do in your comments. People are being too mean on here lately.

I moved to peertube, but wow, it's not a super easy transition when it comes to posting stuff.

Maybe it's just me, but the UI is definitely wonky and not very intuitive. Took me a bit to figure out how to post.

I plan to really go big with posting soon, so maybe I can make the workflow faster.

True, but that doesn't change the facts I gave you, friend. Maybe the sidebar will be updated or something. Either way, I have seen people banned for going on after the word was dropped.

Listen, I know what it's like to be piled up on. Trust me on this. For a long time, people accused me of being the most downvoted, most hated person on Lemmy (good times/glory days).

Some still think that. So I know what it's like.

Sometimes when the crowd is chasing you with pitchforks, you gotta realize that you ain't gonna win the fight and you just let it go. Doesn't mean you leave Lemmy or anything, but sometimes it's just not worth arguing about. So you move on, and find places on Lemmy that you do like, and carry on.

I was just banned from some place just yesterday because someone called me a troll who was banned from everywhere, and my exact reply was: "Nope. Still here." Boom! Banned there now for ban evasion, tho I didn't realize I had ever been banned from that comm before. lol

Meh, it is what it is. Lemmy ain't that serious.

But like I said, I ain't your boss. You do you. But if you keeping on going like this in this comm, you will def get banned from here. Maybe you care, maybe you don't. I'm just giving you my opinion.

My fiance is Jewish (disagrees with much of what Israel is doing tho and isn't very political). She was on here to check it out, and because I was hyping up the concept of Lemmy. She def wasn't a fan.

The hate for all things Jewish scared her to death and now she questions why I'm on here so much! lol

The extremism here, tho started out for rightful intentions, is starting to lean into antisemitism in some corners of Lemmy. It's very ironic and weird watching some posters go from anti-nazi everything to anti-jewish everything. Sometimes in the same comment.

I think ALL governments are assholes, so I'm somewhat indifferent to the entire thing.

I don't know what the fuck Lemmy is turning into though. I think some just wanna watch the world burn and will jump to whatever side has the matches.

If there was some instance that banned all political talk, I'd def hang out there for most of my time on Lemmy.

Just a heads up, keeping on going after someone says "Disengage" is ban-worthy in this community. I get it. People are jumping on ya, and you wanna defend yourself. But "Disengage" means the discussion has to end. If we don't follow that guideline, most of the comments here just spiral into infinity of back and forth.

So if you don't delete your comment, good chance you can get banned here. I'm not your boss tho, so you do you. I'm only pointing it out because the rule was pointed out to me once and helped me.

I'm not defending you or any others here, just giving you some facts.

haha, thanks! Yeah, I was feeling creative that day. I figured, "Hey, I should make a Lemmy song!" You reminded me of it, so I posted it to a nerdcore comm just now. lol

I'm with ya. I LOVE the decentralized nature and concept of Lemmy. Just wish some of the more extreme rhetoric would die down. Because this would make a great creative space. People should def not take it quite so seriously and spend more time outside.

But as an aside, I just had a talk with one of the admins for my instance, and it was a great convo and they are supported of creatives here. So right now, feeling good.

Let me know if you find a better venue… I am also disappointed in Lemmy.

I still love Lemmy, and my main Lemmy instance. But ugh, everything is getting so political and extreme everywhere. I'm trying to transition into just posting my writing and staying in writing communities, but my reputation proceeds me (still no regrets and I still believe in everything I said) and things can downgrade pretty quick.

And if I came up with an alt name, people would recognize my writing and say I was ban-evading.

So ugh, we'll see. I'm trying to just stay out of everything political, but people mention my fucking name all the time anytime someone talks about "trolls." And I never back down when I get false accused. lmao
