Microsoft Hires Sam Altman Hours After OpenAI Rejects His Return
  • I was in the same boat as you, ended up deciding to give up the mouse and keyboard and went all in on console gaming to give up my PC. So glad I did

  • In what way? Their product lineup is the worst it’s ever been expect maybe xbox, especially software like windows and office. Even Xbox is loosing to Sony and Nintendo despite being a decent product.

In the windows 98-7 era I was die hard. It was a pretty good OS. By modern standards, it’s just awful. Mac and Linux for me.

  • I use my computer as my main communication device. When I wake it up, I want all my apps refreshed and ready, texts and mail downloaded, and everything ready to go. Then again, that’s why I have a Mac 😂 works great

  • “The always-on nature of phones and tablets is incredibly convenient. Wouldn’t it be great if your (non-ARM) laptop or desktop could do this too?”

Easy, get an M series Mac :P

    It do be that way.
  • Thank you! Someone finally said it

People who don’t think furrys are sexual haven’t accidentally been invited to a furry party in San Francisco like I have. Trust me, they are pretending to be dogs fucking, and it crosses the beastiality line.

Furrys are not a part of the LGBTQI+ community.

I'm currently downloading a show that is on a service to which I subscribe
  • I literally cannot figure out what you are trying to say here. Why are we talking about average americans and DVDs now?

First commenter mentioned their 4K Blu-ray rip was dramatically higher quality than what was offered on a streaming service.

I said that some streaming services offer bitrates comparable to their (4k) bluray physical release. Other services have bitrates so poor they look like shit.

You came in clarifying what type of Blu-ray I was talking about, and dvds and average americans. I think you’re the one off topic here. I don’t even own a physical bluray player - I have remuxs that I stream to an Apple TV. I’m guessing most on this sub have a similar setup with a shield or something.

  • Really depends on the service. I find 4K streaming from Apple and Disney are “close enough” to my Blu-rays I can’t tell the difference unless I stick my nose up to the TV. Now, Max? Hulu? YouTube? All “4k” garbage is so low bitrate I need to take my glasses off to enjoy it

Air Video HD video streaming software seems to have been abandoned. Does anyone know a good alternative?
  • I’m surprised you mentioned Plex to be too complicated but ended up on jellyfin! I use jellyfin as well, love it. Pairs perfectly with infuse, I found jellyfinios and swiftfin to not have enough polish or features

  • I don’t have the “pro”, I use the free functions of the app. Haven’t run into an issue yet! Been using it for years, no subscription needed. The app runs great on Apple TV so no need for AirPlay, and when I travel I plug into HDMI

  • I use infuse, works great. If you wanna keep it simple you can just connect the app directly to a NAS or file share from your Mac, even easier than air video just set up file sharing in system settings. Works great on Apple TV and Mac also

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/infuse-video-player/id1136220934

And if you wanna get fancy down the road you can hook the app up to a Plex or Jellyfin
