  • More likely it's doing what Amazon has made it do. So, probably audio recordings and any other sensor data and metrics they can gather

    I agree this is likely the culprit. Having read the article though, he seems "sure it's not spying".

  • Now that I've read it, my question stands.

    The guy reporting the issue is a pretty well respected tech YouTuber who helped invent Microsoft Task Manager, so I feel like he'd know to check for that, but it was never explicitly mentioned.

    Hopefully he figures it out and does a follow up, I'm curious now.

  • That's fair. The more "engaging" something is, the more its effects may mirror that of something "addicting". I'm also thinking about how engagement is a factor of addictive marketing.

    The end result though, for me at least, is the same. If I'm engaged in my book, or addicted to my phone, I'm still sitting motionless, staring at a thing, and reading. The difference I suppose is on how hard it is to look away.

    I'm glad this is the only social media I really use!

  • I see, so it's sort of a blend in that they're no longer using paper and (i imagine, I'm not an animator) some sort of stop motion process, but doing the same thing with a tablet.

    That's pretty cool. Still, as an animation consumer who is rather uneducated in the hows of animation, it seems like 3D animation could be done in a very similar way?

    I apologize though, I think I'm just being a pedant about what "hand drawn" means when the article seemed to be more of an argument pushing for 2D over 3D animation. As a consumer I think the concept of "hand drawn" is really cool, however whether computer aided or not, I think as long as the end result is a good animation with a good story, I'm happy in the end. And, I'll say I'm happy to see 2D animation making a comeback!

  • same. There is one windows computer still in this house and it's unplugged. Everything else is Linux, Android, or FreeBSD based.

  • I'll have to look into it. 30GB isn't bad at all. I think I have unlimited now with text and phone for only like $10 more a month. I'd have to look, it's been a while since i've dealt with it.

  • I'm likely going to go to t-mobile as they're cheap from what I understand and they make up a big part of the network that google leases, along with (i think) US Cellular, or something similar.

    That said, I've got about a year to decide, unless someone decides to hire me and then I can pay my phone off early.

    I didn't think you were lol, I just meant within the context of legwear/purses, that selling an extra thing to one gender at the expense of a feature in another product seems like it would make more sense if you did it for 100% of the pocketed-clothing market, rather than focusing on 50% of the potential customers.

    But then, such is marketing and human behavior.

    (I'll carry anything for them), and I always try to get them clothes with pockets.
