  • but what if going away makes it worse? .world's downtime has only increased since i made my l.ee acct

  • holy hell that is an absolute monolith of a bookmarklet though

  • bless you crul, you are my absolute favourite lemming. shame that user tags aren't a feature yet so i notice when i run into you. i also see you have good taste in subreddits, too

    these are great - particularly the markdown one - that never would have crossed my mind, but i'm going to try to remember to use it from now on

    i wish i could move to mlmym, but it's just not as featureful as either lemmy-ui or reddit+res

  • goddammit

    i joined dxcomplex because it was the smallest instance i was confident wouldn't fold (and i liked the name);
    \ then it folded so i joined .world because it was the smallest instance i was confident wouldn't fold (and i liked the name);
    \ then it got massive so i joined lemm.ee because it was the smallest instance i was confident wouldn't fold (and i liked the name)

    i'm starting to wonder if i'm cursed

  • oh crul it's you!

    i don't suppose you could share some of those? i just had a quick look, but the lemmy search syntax is different to reddit - the communities' ids are in the url, so the reddit method doesn't work unless i memorise the id №... (i wish the lemmy devs weren't so obsessed with numbers)

  • this is incredibly cool

    i don't even know how i'm going to put this to use, but i know i'll find something to use it for. thank you

  • i will bear that in mind, although i'm currently a focussing on trying to get the imaginary network up and running, so that's first (plus i don't even really want to mod anything, i'm just doing it because i want these lemmyspheres to exist, and no-one else was)

    i will ping you when/if i do make one though

  • i can understand where they're coming from

    if your instance was called lemmy.freds.com, and your goal was to create an instance purely for people called fred to use; it would be understandable to remove people who claimed to be called fred, and then it turns out they actually aren't

    now i don't know what instance this is, but say it's lemmy.dbzer0.com - if a user is going around decrying piracy, or reporting copyright infringement on lemmy to authorities; i think it would be reasonable to remove them

  • oh fair enough, i forgot that some people hide the bookmarks bar because i find it really useful

  • i did have /r/gruvbox on reddit actually, i've been considering bringing it over here although i didn't really think there'd be enough interest

  • oh yeah good idea, thank you

  • You could put this in a button and inject it into the google page with a user script extension right?

    yes, probably. but i wouldn't know how, i don't really use userscripts; i prefer to trigger things manually

    if anyone else wants to do this: i release the above code under cc0, any person may use it for any purpose without let or hindrance, yada yada

    That might get closer to what OP wants

    i guess..? but i'm not sure of the functional difference between a button in the bookmarks bar, and a button on the page

  • this seems like something best solved with a bookmarklet

    let me see if i can knock one up quickly

    okay, i got a bit distracted, sorry it took so long

    javascript:(function() {window.location="https://duckduckgo.com/?"+window.location.toString().match(/q=.*?(\&|$)/g);})()

    just drag that into your bookmarks bar, then click it when you're on a google search page (please message me with any questions or bugs, i wrote this in five minutes with an online regex tester)

    also, thank you for this post - i'd never thought of doing this, but it's a good idea

    edit 2: okay, lemmy-ui currently has a bug with ampersands. please replace & in the script with just an "&"

  • little nightmares 1 & 2 are fantastic, i thoroughly recommend them to anyone; and this looks like it takes some influence from 9

    greatly looking forward to this

  • this looks pretty cool actually, i hadn't heard of this

    also; lemmysphere instance agnostic link: !retrodeck@lemmy.zip

  • well it'd obviously have to be digital, and it would be nice if it were secure as well

    maybe down the line we could get a high capacity version, or even xtreme capacity

  • i personally like feedme - it's not m3 as asked in the op, but it's the most feature-filled android client that i could find, that syncs with inoreader
