The dramatic effect is witnessing the trespassing creep transform instantly into pink mist and various chunks of unidentified meat.

  implies no neighbor kids to murder
  
  I don't really see isolated to mean completely isolated, more along the lines of "it's a couple miles into town and ten acres between me and the neighbors" but fair enough.
  
  Your personal feeling of a definition of a word does not align with the reality of the actual definition of the word "isolated", so you can think what you want, just realize that it's wrong.
- Ideally the dramatic effect from the pumping action renders the need to use it unnecessary.
