Nope. Just capitalism doing capitalism things. No need frame the issue as some sort of mass psychosis or cultural pathology when it's clear that this devolution is a response to deteriorating material conditions. Calling fascism a cult is an ideological evasion. It's the liberals' convenient way of characterizing trump as an anomaly as opposed to a predictable symptoms of capitalist crisis. Liberals do this because it allows them to attempt to explain fascism without acknowledging that capitalism itself gives rise to such movements.
There is no Trump cult; there is only textbook, predictable fascism - which leftists have been warning liberals about for decades only to be laughed away. Reap what you sow.

It's a cult. It just so happens that fascism is a kind of cult. Cults pop up in all sorts of circumstances, and capitalism is one of them.

So let me get this straight, you're saying that economic systems are cults? Your characterization of humanity is that we went from hunter gatherer cult, to agrarian society cult, to feudalism cult, to capitalism cult? This is the bizarre type of analysis that shows up when you refuse to do any sort of class-based analysis. You can't just throw the word cult around anytime you speak about systems that large swaths of people take part in - either willingly or unwillingly.

Amazing. You can win every debate by assuming your opponent's position and then attacking that.
Your question isn't even relevant. Cults are perversions of normal social dynamics. They pop up as control structures inside many economic systems, including capitalism.

For anyone who runs across this and wants to learn, see the BITE model and high demand groups. Cults come in many forms, and don't even have to be religious. Multi-level marketing companies took the BITE checklist and turned it into a business model.
I can certainly see ways capitalism would cause more cults to pop up. Those MLM schemes being an obvious one.They also tend prey on people who have few other social links (see the loneliness epidemic) or are under a lot of distress. However, they are not exclusive to capitalism by any means. In fact, the Marxist-Lenninist idea of a vanguard party makes it particularly vulnerable to cult-like behavior, and this is reason alone to reject that whole branch of leftism.
I've plopped the other poster on my ban list, because someone who strawmanned your position so hard does not deserve your time and is clearly not interested in learning anything. They also ignored another poster who gave information on how cults work. So I have no idea what they posted below this message and have no intention of checking.

My family would bend over backwards to end abortion access, but when I send them buckets of articles showing how people are harmed by Trump... well, either its fine or there is nothing they can do about it.
