Does this count as "backwards-compatibility"? 😄
More like "backwards-thinking".
…and ffs I hope this won't be allowed when the speakers are emitting to the outside. We do not need artificial noise on the roads!
Depends on how loud it is, but regulations require electric vehicles to make some noise so people can hear them. But considering this car is pretending to be a v8, my guess is that it will be very loud and annoying
For people it is I guess
This is exactly what everyone will shake their heads and laugh about in 20 years when RCR gets hold of one. Like Chrysler's "talking car" stuff from the 80s.
Pathetic. Exactly the sort of thing that tasteless middle aged losers will buy.
Boo! Make them sound like flying cars from the Jetsons.
This is just so dumb. But whatever it takes, I guess
I have a feeling that whoever buys these is going to get made fun the hell out of
I guess I don’t really understand the hate for this? It’s essentially no cost or extra complexity to add and it makes the driving more fun and engaging. Since when did people care about being cool again?
I mean fuck you if you want to have fun driving I guess ¯(ツ)_/¯
Why.
For a modest subscription they will let you download V12 noise as well
If it's well implemented it can actually be very cool and convincing. See e.g. the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N https://youtu.be/8-INKFa5Xoo at around 02:40.
Convincing, maybe, but cool? Never.
Also, I actually kind of liked the Ioniq until you pointed that out.
