Everybody deserves a happy and fulfilled life. Not slowly dying alone in a dirty hole for absolutely nothing - led there by lies and propaganda from people who should take care of them, not waste them.
I agree with you in principal but this is sort of a brutal execution of a wounded soldier. Which I can definitely understand not being in favor of. With soldiers being drafted and coerced into fighting I have a little sympathy for a dieing desperate man being put down in this fashion.
Propaganda is a helluva drug. One could make a pretty solid argument that it's killed more than all actual drugs combined. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm not implying anything about this man's former beliefs or reasons for being there, only that those that deserve that grenade the most are pushing that propaganda and haven't set for on any battlefield (nor will they).
Why should I differ one from another, judge them by the evils they made or could have made, bother myself with moral choices? They came to destroy my home, my country. They will all burn. Every single one of them that crossed the border.
For centuries citizens of various countries hadn't a choice and had to fight russian oppressors except for russians themselves who always comply with all the shit they are told to do. This nation is beyond any rescue.
I've watched a bunch of combat footage but I'm not a fan here. Not of the video, but of the action.
Yes he's an invader and UA has a right to defense and to kill invaders and defend their home and I fully support them. But this guy is obviously not combat effective. He's half dead already. His arm is fucked up and he's not gonna be shooting anyone. So killing him for the hell of it feels fucking cold.
Seems like bad strategy too. Let him live and it'll take 2-3 soldiers to evac him, and that's 2-3 soldiers not fighting that day.
Plus it's good PR to let enemy wounded get evac'd shows that you are the good guys.
Eh, I don't really give a fuck about Russian combatants getting blown up at this stage of the war.
Maybe at the beginning of the war when their soldiers didn't realize they're being shipped to Ukraine, sure.
But at this point, this man knew what he's doing and decided to do it anyways. I don't take pleasure in his death, but that's war. Ideally they'd take him POW, but that's kinda hard to do in contested areas.
At that point, the only other options are to let the man suffer or allow him to be evac'd by Russians and shoot at you again.
This felt really sad actually. At the end of the day even the enemy is human, even if he was tricked by propaganda or forced to fight via conscription. Wish they had let him live somehow.
