What happens when you turn off a game during the "Do not turn off" warning? This displays when a game is being saved and warns of data corruption. Let's see.
The games and their results
Hades 2 - Result: No data loss.
Still Wakes The Deep - Result: Absolutely fuckaw.
Dread Delusion - Result: Getting very bored of entering my Windows password.
Cyberpunk 2077 - Result: Regret starting this pointless experiment.
Alien: Isolation - Result: Just glad this is over, to be honest.
In his defense the article does say he attempted numerous times for each game. Whether or not he did only he knows, but it does get very mind numbing even doing something 5 or 6 times and you simply have to wait during all the loading time.
Completely agreed though, what the hell kind of experiment is this haha. Afaik Windows has a very graceful power off cycle, so graceful that I've had my power button fail to turn my pc off for God knows why.
Would love to see just how quick (or slow) you have to be with a hard power off.
Yeah, solid state drives are going to be effectively immune to anything bad happening from powering off. But if you have a hard drive and just happen to get unlucky with the timing - it's really, really hard to do - then your drive is gonna be in rough shape.

If you happen to turn off your computer at the exact moment a game is in the middle of writing a save file to disk, the write will be incomplete and having an SSD won't make those unwritten bits appear on the disk.
