I Hate Webp
I Hate Webp
A good chunk of the time I can't share images because they're in Webp format. Is there a way to force a different format? I don't know if it's a function of the content or Boost.
What's stopping you from sharing a webp? Recipients don't have a compatible app?
13ReplySome messaging clients don't support it either, it's still a mess after all these years
6ReplyFB Messenger Lite is one of those that doesn't.

I can't send webp pic through text messages, I have to screenshot them to be able to send them.
4ReplyI know, and it's bullcrap.

I'm using FB Messenger Lite. Telegram may have the same problem, but I'm 100% on that.
1ReplyThat's what I'm wondering too.

I think you need to complain to the company making your messaging app. If they don't support webp Boost can't do anything about it.
12ReplyLike downloading images? Every image I've downloaded from boost has been either jpeg or png, might be something with the specific post(s) or instance(s) you browse
6ReplyI get a lot of gifs when I download stuff.

If it's an image that doesn't have to be very high res, you can try taking a screenshot and cropping to keep just the photo.
2ReplyThat's what I end up doing most the time because I've run into too many webp pics that I can't send through text

Is the lack of support webp's fault? Is it fair to hate webp?
2ReplySince I'm able to share gif, jpg, png files with no problem, then, yeah, I'm going to say this is webp's fault. Yes, I'm blaming a file format. /s(?)
No, I don't hate a file format, I hate its lack of support.

Cant you just change the extension to .png without any converter?
-1ReplyHadn't even thought of that. From what I've seen, changing the file extension just makes the file unusable.

You may just want to download a converter
-1ReplyCan you recommend a good one?
1ReplyImage toolbox is good. Its on the fdroid repo
