While SVU and Wolf Dick in general seems very favourable to police image I could swear the ‘facts’ the get dropped about SA in that show was super eye opening to young me. Also every other episode Liv and Ell are constantly checking people who degrade or spout misinfo about victims (like SA victims who were sex workers, male SA victims etc).
Also by ‘woke’ standards, one of the leads is a woman, so it failed the woke test since its inception.

16Yeah I didn’t want to use the term copaganda due to it feeling off topic from the OP but that video covers it. We rewatched it this year. The amount of times the show, while overtly asserting it’s bad, sort of subtlety implies all the times Stabler used excessive force (which is frequently) are somewhat justified is pretty disappointing.

Ice-T made a great little thriller back in the day. It's about some drug dealers hunting down a pair of firemen. The firemen don't want to go to the cops because they are hunting down a fortune in stolen gold.
It failed at the box office because it came out at the same time as the Rodney King riots. For some reason, no one wanted to entertain themselves with a movie about a race war right then
8I remember watching SVU episodes as a teenager in the mid 2000s.
It was the most batshit insane stuff you could think of. The premise was usually something super serious, and then there added a series of more ridiculous plot twists until the episode ended. At no point did I feel it respected the subject matter or anything beyond the most basic laws governing reality.
For example, there was one episode where a man was accused of raping an underaged woman by her family. The man denies it. There's a twist though, the man said the encounter happened but was consensual. This wouldn't matter because she was 14, but the woman is actually 30 and the family just run a shakedown operation. There's another twist though, because none of these people are related. There's another twist though, because the "father" groomed the daughter. The episode then ended with someone having a mental breakdown while being arrested.
I can guarantee you whatever culture war issue SVU is trying to cover, they're doing so in a way that would simultaneously offend both sides, along with anyone that has a working brain. I have no idea how this TV show is still being made, or who keeps watching it.
