A better star trek than anything released in the 2010s onward. I'm not even kidding, they handled many more current sociopolitical issues and with far more wit and a frankly shocking amount of tact considering its a Seth McFarlane comedy.

24They did have arcs, but more in that way older star trek did where you get a blurb about it during the rest of the episodes self contained content then a dedicated episode at the beginnings and ends of the season with 1-2 dedicated episodes somewhere in the middle. Well balanced for multiple watch styles.
21Last season had a good wrap up too so it makes hiatuses not feel painful. Wish shows would go that route over cliff hangers with how shows now take years to get another season and many forget what even happened by the time it returns. More seasons should feel more complete by the end of it even if there are potential storylines to explore in the future.

I completely agree. The Orville is a fantastic show that really captures that TNG feeling while still being its own thing through humor.

Orville is a return to the ST:TNG formula that made Picard and Riker so famous and much loved.
I actually like Seth and Adriana as CiC and FO. They play off each other without seeming disingenuous.

8The show was never at risk of not being renewed. The main issue slowing the production is that Seth MacFarlane wants to write every single episode by himself.
This whole thing is a personal fanfiction that he got money to make into a real show.

4I mean good. He obviously had enough vision and creativity to get it this far, so if he doesnt want it to be watered down im happy to have less of an awesome thing than way too much mediocre shit which is what lots of other shows are right now. If theres other writers that have good stories to tell then i hope they get a chance to make those into something great too.
2Yeah I'm definitely not complaining. I'm just pointing out that the show was never cancelled... It's just a really slow show to make because almost all of the pre production is just 1 guy
