While all that is true, you actually shouldn’t do that in your review, as that will often get it flagged/removed. (They’ll think it’s not a “real” review and instead part of a review bombing effort.)
Brooo like I downloaded it to use for porn (all my saves and my carefully tailored subscription list of hentai and fetish porn) and you can't even sort by top? Like what the fuck?
Does anyone have an .APK for RIF Golden Platinum? I've heard it's working and want it back for a specific use case but it's obviously not on play store anymore.
How exactly does this work? I just found about about ReVanced from this post, and I managed to remove ads from the official app using it, but all the patches I see for the third party apps are "change-oauth-client-id". What does this do?
now the process varies whether your phone is rooted or not.
rooted guide:
install the .apk, this may require manually uninstalling current version of YT you have
give root access to Revanced in Magisk
go to Patcher in Revanced, Select application and pick YouTube from the list
select patches you like; do not select Vanced MicroG Support (you can use Default pack, just disable MicroG manually)
click Done (n)
click Patch, this will take around 2 to 10 minutes. your phone will stay awake and I recommend not leaving the Manager
now click Install as root
if applicable, go to the Play Store, disable auto-update for YouTube
also, to make sure you don't accidently update YT, use a file manager like Material Files create a text file called detach.cfg and put it in /Android folder in main storage (where data, media and obb are)
inside the file type out youtube's package name: com.google.android.youtube . you can do this for any app you like to stay non-updated
done. YT will work with your current Google account and will not update. you can tweak the settings inside the app.
non-root guide:
after downloading the app skip installing it and go straight to Patcher in Revanced manager
Select application but this time click Storage in bottom-right corner
find the downloaded .apk
select patches you like; do select Vanced MicroG Support (you can use Default pack)
click Done (n)
click Patch, this will take around 2 to 10 minutes. your phone will stay awake and I recommend not leaving the Manager
now click Install or click the shashlik menu (vertical ...) and Export apk to save it and not repeat the process for other devices
when successfully installed either from Revanced or a file manager after exporting the apk, open the app
it will prompt you to install MicroG. it's a little plugin which allows 3rd party apps to act as official YouTube apps. basically minimal Gapps replacement. go ahead and install it
log into MicroG. use your regular Google credentials or create a temporary app password, especially if you use 2FA (which may break MicroG)
your new YouTube Revanced is installed alongside regular YouTube, as it has different package name (Vanced MicroG plugin does this by default). therefore there's no risk Play Store will force to update it and you can use both the official and custom app at the same time
go to settings inside YouTube to tweak the app
you can share the newly-created .apk to other devices and straight-up install it with any file manager.
Before I deleted my account, I did give it a try and it's truly terrible and it's a shame they expect you to use that when basically every 3rd party app is better in every way. It's buggy, riddled with ads and doesn't have proper tablet support while both Sync and Boost did.
I know Revanced will fix some of the issues, but I'm done with Reddit out of principle of them throwing 3rd party devs to the curb when it's been fine for them to develop apps for years.
Honestly. I tried using the app the other day and for some reason its SO laggy. It's only the official app that does this too, I did not have this problem with Apollo or Sync.
It always annoyed me how the ads were formatted to look like posts, always felt like they were trying to trick people into clicking on it (which honestly that probably is the intent). Feel the same way with ads on Twitter. It's one thing to show ads and another to format them to try and trick users into clicking on them
I crapped myself when I saw this post. I thought I had promoted stuff and trending feeds and was feeling like it was on it way to Reddit shenanigans, good to know it’s just a cesspit screenshot.
