New government data shows that U.S. drug overdose deaths appear to be showing a sustained decline. There were about 97,000 overdose deaths in the 12-month period that ended June 30.

because they're assholes who care more about staffing prison labor programs than about the american people. There's a reason incarceration is the only form of slavery enshrined in the constitution, and it ain't because the labor is somehow reformative.
