I've got a spicy take, but desperately want to get it off my chest
  • You forgot that it was starlet that created the need for this legal argument in the first place.

If the judge was truly moral; this trial would never have happened. If starfleet was moral, the docheberger that wanted to dismantle data would never have been a member.

Also the other best defense would have been to ask docuheberger to prove he’s not just a machine, and crusher explain in intricate detail how they can reassemble Ryker’s brain. And reattach Ryker’s limb after Warf rips it off.

(Okay, so maybe I don’t like Ryker.)

What to do with extra mushrooms?
  • Cloudy stock is like soggy pie crust bottoms to certain crowds. Though generally speaking, a cloudy stock is less about messing something up and more about what you've added to veg stock. (or it could be "over" cooked- if you just kept it at a simmer the entire time, it should just be a matter of filtering the liquid. or going full on consomme-clear with the whole chill it-and-egg-whites process to filter it.)

if you do make vege stock with scraps; mushrooms definitely add a positive flavor too it. this is more of a use-it-or-loose-it phase of salvaging the shrooms. (or scraps, carrot and apple peels feature in my stock, too. as well as onion skins and garlic-ends that I just can't be arsed to mince all the way down.)

By the way, you can use stock of all types for more things than just soup. for example, using stock instead of water for rice will definitely improve the flavor. (veg or chicken stock; beef stock was... weird...). same goes for stews; including mushroom stews and beef stews (veg stock here.)

[QUESTION] How would I substitute fresh fruit and vegetables in a recipe with frozen equivalents?
  • So, in general you can swap 1:1 frozen vegetables for fresh with no problems at all. Fruit gets a little bit more hinky since a lot of them get packaged with syrup to help prevent crystallization (which completely shreds the fruit.). If you're using the fruit in something- like a jam, or compote where it's going to get cooked anyway, just be aware that it might need less sugar. you can use it whole you might notice them being a bit more juicy than normal, and a bit... uh... frozen-strawberry-esque? They're perfectly fine, but they're going to be a bit... weird. (waffles come to mind. we do frozen strawberries and blueberries, as well as black and raspberries.)

In fact, frozen stuff usually retains more of the nutrients and has more to start with than fresh produce. The reason for this is that the facility they freeze them at are generally next to or very near the farms they're grown at. So they're picked when ripe rather than green, and then freezing actually is the best at preserving nutrients.

Vegetables are generally blanched, to deactivate enzymes, though, so they're already partially cooked. Generally speaking, frozen vegetables need to be cooked from frozen, or thawed in the fridge. Peas are notorious in my family. (Step-grandma thawed peas in the sink for a thanksgiving dinner to... unpleasant consequences.) (If there's any special considerations, they'll be listed on the packaging.)

Some vegetables are in fact "meant" to be frozen. like heirloom-varieties of carrots. carrots do this thing as a last-gasp of trying to survive, where the convert their starches into sugars; which increases their ability to survive freezing. (fun fact, this is why humans are so keyed to sweet things- sweetness means it's in season.)

Before you get any funny ideas about carrots from the grocery store... modern commercial carrots don't do this; its been bred out as a consequence of breeding for other things (mass production value.) but even so, winter crops generally tolerate freezing very well because... well... they're winter crops and that's what they're good for.

Broccoli and cauliflower are both traditionally winter crops, by the way. as are garlic, leeks, kale, a few varieties of squash parsnips, turnips and beets (which like carrots become sweeter with the cold.)

bullshit. even fox news and OAN and all the-even further-right-wing-rags air his rants. They've heard him speak. we ALL watched him incite an insurrection. all their propagandist rags have spewed his own words like "I'll be a dictator on day one", or "If I get elected, you won't [get] to vote again." comments. They've heard all his violent rhetoric. They've heard him praise douchey assholes like Putin and Kim.

They've heard his racist dog-whistles. his misogyny. His stupidity.
They like that he calls for political violence against immigrants, against women, and against anyone whose not ideologically with them. (that is... democrats.).
    They like his vile shit.

The GOP is the party of Insurrection. The party of violence. The party of racism. the party of misogyny. The party of hate. The party of Fuck-the-Poor-so-The-Rich-can-save-a-Buck.

Sorry, but they're voting for that. Knowingly. they're voting for project 2025. Knowingly. They're not ignorant. They know what and who he is, and they're voting for the candidate they like.

we need to be hitting back at the people who try to 'civilize' trump's message. "no he meant" needs to be met with "Trump meant to be fucking fascist, why are you lying?"

It’s tough to navigate this election, but fueling their emotions while their manipulated emotions have made them vote for trump in the first place, seems like an obviously bad idea, even for some idiot like myself.

yeah, the time to coddle their fucking emotions is long since passed. Hurt their feelings. the worst of trump's supporters are not here to have civil conversation like functional adults.

they're here to beat the shit out of you until you comply. They don't give a flying fuck about your feelings. Only your compliance. It's well past time to clobber the "undecided" or "moderates" that don't really exist any more over the head with all of the GOP's bullshit. Paint them with that brush. if they don't like it they can prove it by NOT SUPPORTING THE FUCKING FASCISTS.

Or, every time he opens his puckered anus?

It’s okay to get angry. It’s okay to say that people that want to elect a rapist, racist, a raging misogynist, convicted felon, tax cheat, business fraudster.

a man whose policies are so awful, that his kill count is only lower compared to the likes of Mao, Stalin, hitler and Pol Pot.

That is who trump voters are voting for. You cannot be a good person- or even a half-way decent person- and vote for that.

You do not get to make jokes about Paul Pelosi getting beaten in the head with a claw hammer and then get offended when you’re called a piece of trash.

You do not get to attack people at voting polls with a machete, or burn ballot boxes or intimidate voters and complain about being called garbage.

You do not get to vote for laws that prevent women from getting necessary, emergency medical care directly leading to their death, and bitch about being called a callous, shitty human being.

Any vote that gets lost because of this was never going to be voting for harris anyway. Undecided voters don’t exist. We know who and what the candidates are. We’ve known for more than a year. It isn’t that complicated a decision.

Double, double Toil and Trouble; Fire burn and Cauldron boil. and the finished soup: !

Okay, so I was making chicken soup from stock I had made using a (lightly,) browned carcus and neck. just before dumping the the dumplings into it, the stock's color was a nice light brown. I added about 1/4 cup of lemon juice, turned my back for 30 seconds after a stir and it turned it an almost milky-off white. Eventually it deepened to this:

    !

It's delicious, and tastes as expected, I'm just curious as to what happened in the broth's chemistry?

Seasoned with salt (duh), a sprig of thyme, some ginger and garlic, (just a hint of ginger,) black pepper, lemon zest (which was added with the torn chicken,) and white wine deglazed the pot from browning the dark meat.

The stock was from garlic, onion, celery, carrot and maybe ginger scraps cooked with the chicken carcass..

Due to reasons... I've "adopted" a CR10s that a friend had bought. It was used, and was already well on it's way to being a janky Printer of Theseus. My hope is to get it up and running and put through it's paces before the holidays so I can give it back as a gift.

With the linear rail upgrades, I picked up the hardware and it's on it's way; which got me looking at how to do the upgrade, which I have mostly figured out; the question I'm having is, most upgrades seem to place the rails on 2020 extrusions sitting on top of the base frame- same as how the original y axis 2040's were designed.

Which raises the question- why not lower it so the 2020 rails are even with the frame, with the mgn12 rail sitting on top? Like so:

    !

The short answer I came to is this would necessitate replacing the brackets for the y stepper motor and it's idler; but it should be possible. the easiest solution would be something like:

    !

which raises the question: are printed parts rigid enough to hold against the tension on the belts? The motors can't handle too much tension anyhow, and the printer already has the screw-cap tensioners for x and y printed that seem to have been holding up well.

has anybody replaced the OG metal bracket on the back? does it stress and need replacing often, or is it fairly reliable (and above all, consistent,)

    7

Which do you use and why? Which one gets it cleaner. If it matters we have “real” winters here, meaning snow cruft and salt that absolutely must be removed.

Edit to clarify: I’m talking about a choice in automated car washes- not hand washing cars. Seems people are getting confused. Touchless is a few passes with a pressure washer. Soft touch adds spinning car-wash brush things.

Okay, so, with structural modules- specifically the cowl/belly/hull modules you can slap in... aside from the trivial gains to hull, are they basically just for attachment points/decoration?

could i protect things that can be targeted- the weapons, shields, engines, and grav drive- by placing 'under' hull components? or does that just not matter?
