A Half-Life 2 mod has been coded to block certain YouTubers, who will see the first-person shooter crash, and an error that reads: "STOP talking SH1T about us".
i love it when modders get so up their own ass, they make themselves look moronic to everyone.
i recall the huge cringy "petition" made by BG3 modders demanding to be told what fixes would come in patches made by devs because they were "fed up" with having to fix their mods after patches would break things.
its quite funny when modders think they run the show.
16I don't know about the specific situation you are talking about, but this sounds like a perfectly fine request. Needing to spent time debugging your mod at random because an unexpected patch just dropped and players suddenly can't use it anymore doesn't sound fun. Especially considering how little extra work it would take the studio to document their fix to the mod community a bit early.

they did not create this game. they are not entitled to demand and petition for such things. stuff being updated and breaking mods is annoying, but it happens.
modders do not own the game they mod for. nor are they entitled to be included in development updates just because they're annoyed that they need to fix issues that may arise as a result of a game being patched by those who made it.

4I mean, its not trolling if the mod has persistent issues that keep not getting addressed and those keep getting pointed out. Like folks pointing out how bad darksydephil is at video games isn't trolling because he's legit awful at video games. It can cross the line of course, but just pointing out the dude is trash isn't doing that.
Though, to be fair, I don't know the youtubers in question so maybe they are just huge assholes. vOv

nitpick: they were dubbed as anticitizens by the person decompiling the code, and not by the original code author
10Those mod devs are absolute assholes.
As per the decompiled code, the game will refuse to load in certain cases with the message "Upgrade your PC, the current hardware is just ridiculous." I can understand not wanting to field support requests from extremely outdated hardware, but being condescending and not even giving players the option to try playing it...
