looks like a b&w grainy picture thats been colorized with watercolor. supposed to be dreamy/romanticized

4ReplyCheck out Autochrome images, some very intriguing early color photography using that process.
4ReplyI think it is an earlier process from 1880 called photochrom invented by Hans Jacob Schmid and close to lithography. It is an hand-coloring process. Autochrome came later and are closer to photography with additive color on a mosaic screen plate.

It looks like a hand coloured photo to me, which were apparently popular in Japan for a while
