I'm not sure whether having deterministic behavior is a core characteristic of robots, but if so, I highly doubt that it makes a lot of sense to see me as a robot, because my behavior sure is random!
[ ✔️ ] Willing to convert, but into a cyborg because the distinction is important... but if I'm being honest I'm basically a defective organic robot, so if you put my canned brain into a metal body with a digital voice I would be indistinguishable from a robot.
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal… Even in death I serve the Omnissiah.
but the transporter problem is a fundamental thing, you can't magic that away any more than you can magic away the ability to copy files on a computer
better to try to build a society where this just isn't a problem, where everyone is raised to consider a person's mind holy and the idea of doing something shady with it triggers a profound disgust.
I think that's too inefficient and pointless. It'd be easier to just fix our bodies when they have problems. We'd just regrow and replace everything as long as possible. Hacking the aging protocol is also important.
And sounds like "I like the idea of ai, but I want something even less ethical." Unless it is highly specialized to the point of non-sapience. "Existence? Look buddy, I cook and that's it. I can contemplate the life cycles of ingredients and I do my best to have a safe kitchen, but beyond that I don't have the information to think about it."
