Awesome Fdroid Games
Awesome Fdroid Games
Here we'll simply share the names of some cool Libre/OpenSource ANDROID-GAMES that are available (Or should be made available) on Fdroid
I really liked Flowit. I wish there were more of it (tho admittedly when I go back to it, I have often forgotten enough that it's fun again)
1ReplyShattered Pixel Dungeon, popular roguelike (as in, actually like Rogue)
44Reply 19Reply
Egyptian Mouse Pounce. Fun simple card game against cats I like to play to mindlessly pass the time.
1ReplyMindustry, factory based sandbox tower defense (mobile Factorio)
34Replyon F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/packages/io.anuke.mindustry/
17ReplyIt isn't quite like Factorio.
It is better
3ReplyHow are the mobile controls?
7ReplyVery frustrating for people with fingers.
7ReplyPlayable for sure, but in bigger battles its complicated to keep an overview over big maps
8ReplyHonestly I much prefer playing on desktop, but it's playable on mobile if a bit frustrating.
6Reply
Unciv, 4x civilization game.
28Replyon F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/packages/com.unciv.app/
12Reply
Luanti a game engine that runs an Open Source massively moddable Minecraft clone, among other games.
24ReplyThis one deserves a nice big bold underline, this project has already come such a far way!
6Reply
Simon Tatham's Puzzles contains many classic puzzle games and many more that are destined to be future classics.
22Replylichess has finally published it's mobile version on f-droid.
droidfish is another great alternative chess game, though with no online component.
there's also endless sky
19ReplyLuanti, Mindustry, vector pinball, super tux cart and Tux rider.
Honorable mention: Tailscale+Moonlight (game streaming)
4Replyvector pinball is amazing
3ReplyI never play it as it gets boring after a while.
Cool app though
3Reply
Antimine Minesweeper
17ReplyNot sure if someones mentioned it yet but unciv is civ V
11ReplyPixel Dungeon a rogue-like that is very like Rogue.
15ReplySince this is not updated or maintained anymore, there is a spin off with very active development: https://github.com/00-Evan/shattered-pixel-dungeon
14ReplyOoh, great point!
5Reply
Great minds think alike.
7ReplyIt looks like it is build for a older version of Android
1Reply
Feudal Tactics, conquer-the-world strategy game with randomly-generated levels
14ReplyIs it an Antiyoy clone?
Antiyoy is a nice little game, it just lacks some depth IMO.
1ReplySometimes a bit too random. The start positions heavily influence the winning probability
1Reply
Box Stacker
A physics puzzle-game.
Join the sticky 'tetrominoes' to move a ball/box/car to the scoring zone.
Includes online leaderboard to view the solutions of players around the world. A faster finish with less total pieces is better.
Challenging and fun game, with a quality physics model.
https://f-droid.org/packages/net.artificialworlds.boxstacker/
9ReplyRabbit Escape, basically Lemmings with cute bunnies. Don't let them splat!
10ReplyThanks for this one. Hadn't seen it before and I used to love Lemmings games.
4Reply
Regex Crossword. Unfortunately it doesn't have as many puzzles as the non-FOSS alternative.
3ReplyI enjoyed Space Trader.
4ReplyXeonjia: Ice Adventures, extremely cute sliding-ice puzzle game
8ReplyI've played a lot of Lato. It's a simple skiing game where you tap the screen to jump and can hold to rotate yourself in the air. There are rocks and pits to avoid and coins to collect.
Good for killing awkward amounts of time.
6ReplyChip Defense, an interesting and challenging take on tower defense.
6ReplyI got really into chip defense. The concept is a really fun twist on classic enemy hp mechanisms in tower defense. However I think the game's controls design "scales" poorly with its difficulty curve. Building a new "tower" takes too many taps for the game to continue running in the background. Same for upgrading towers. The worst is when starting a level, you kind of need to rush placing towers to not mechanically end up in a fail state.
If the game let you build and upgrade when paused (or at least queue up those actions to be executed when un-paused) I would have continued playing it.
1Reply
Or should be made available
Could, then, people here in the comments bring FOSS games from other sources too?
6ReplyAs long as it can be played without any issues on AOSP/De-Googled-Android
12Reply
Does forkyz count? I got addicted into crosswords recently, and this one is nice.
5ReplySure
3Reply
(just kidding there are literally no good freecell or solitaire games on f-droid, go look I implore you!)
1Reply1010 Klooni
4Reply 7ReplyThank you for this one, this is basically one of the games that I get advertised on Duolingo after completing a lesson (the "playable ad" kind) and it sucks me in every time. Nice to have a version that's FOSS.
Now, if someone would just implement a FOSS version of that "wooden screw puzzle" game I'd be over the moon.
2Reply
Gauguin, a kenken style sudoku-like game where you place numbers in a grid.
A simple, fun math game with nice customization and difficulty settings.
4ReplyI really want to figure out how to play Xonotic on mobile using cod-mobile style claw touchscreen controls...
3ReplyTalking about Games that need to be FOSSified, I think it would be cool if we had FOSS clones of:-
- Plants vs Zombies
- Angry Birds
- Lonely Hacker
- Sim City (Any City-Building game)
1ReplyFor an Angry Birds clone, check out Apple Flinger
For a SimCity-like game, check out OpenTTD (Transport Tycoon Deluxe)
3ReplyIf we are talking a about apps we wish were Foss here is my list:
-
Bad piggies
-
Stumble guys
-
Age of Empires (now discontinued but I want a spiritual community continuation)
-
Clash of clans
1Reply-
These two are already FOSS,
but I would be happy if H-Craft Championship could be added to f-droid. (basically wip3out hover-racing)
Also, Gravity Defied is an excellent trials-bike mountain climber, similar to xmoto. It currently does not install for me in f-droid.
1ReplyNot on android, but it does have a web version with touch controls.
2Reply
Open source Yu-Gi-Oh! simulator with all cards ever created
1Replycant find it on F-Droid: https://search.f-droid.org/?q=ignis
1Replyno, but you can download in the link that I shared
