    • ✅ First class XPT train tickets between Southern Cross <-> Sydney
    • ✅ South Pacific cruise booking
    • ✅ Mandatory travel insurance (free through credit card) + $10 upgrade for cruise features
    • ✅ Work annual leave submitted (taking 12 days of leave gives me 22 days of holiday woo)

I think I'm just about done! Holiday SORTED!

Once I've figured out Christmas presents, I can go into the holiday period stress-free 😎

  • I woke up this morning to the news Afghanistan beat England in the cricket. It's their second win ever in a World Cup the first being in 2015.

  • I thought I was so smart putting my drink in a travel mug so it wouldn’t get spilled.

    Cat tmi

Melbcat spewed on it, hit it bullseye along with the carpet. The concave cup lid acted as a little basin 🤢

It’s rinsed off and in the sink while I decide how best to deep clean it or whether I can face using it again after that.

The carpet has been blotted well and soaked in biological cleaner so hopefully that should be okay. I’ll scrub and reapply if I need to.

Edit: the spinnos look a bit less happy today. They’re still valiantly pushing up leaves but one looks very slightly chewed, others have tiny pale bumps and pin fine light trails on them, and a few look wilted with dark stems near the soil. I wonder if they’re damping off

  • Today I found out what a burpee is. Yeah nah. I'll start with the modified version first thanks.

  • Someone on instagram posted 'ten weeks till Christmas' and now I am filled with anxiety over how fast things are going D:

  • I had a dream last night that I owned a golden Labrador called "King" and he was such a good, gentle and kind boy.

I've never owned a dog. Our house and yard are not suitable for a dog... But I kinda wish King was real.

  • I was hoping for pakidge today, but sadly it's not looking likely. The air will have to remain unfried for a bit longer. The rest of the week should be pakidge full however, as I'm expecting seven deliveries 😁

  • Mr Woof must have sensed I was thinking of moving the dog bed on the floor that he doesn't use as he is curled up in it tonight. I guess it stays where it is after all.

He does know how to do cute.

  • About to go on holidays, and the longest time away from work for quite some time and man, I gotta tell you, I'm feeling down af. I don't know why. Hoping that when I finally get away that it'll change my mood.

    8
  • We've had sunshine, rain and wind today. I'm waiting for the snow or hail. Not likely but you never know.

    8
  • I reckon my cat does know how to put the kettle on, he just pretends not to.

  • Here's an unexpected myki issue.

When I was cruising down the bellarine the other day, jumped on the tram did my touching and it said the card was expired, the 3 dreaded beeps that the adults dressed like kids salivate over. Jumped off went to 7/11 grabbed a new card with $20 on no biggie.

I thought shit, that can't be right as I just topped it up and it has $40 on it.

About to head back to melbs today and check the old 'expired' card on the website and it expires in Nov. 2024 with $40 pending.

The responsibility is obviously on the commuter to have a valid ticket. And I'm aware if a machine fails that's on them but if the card hallucinates then where does that leave you if the big kids want their lunch monies?

  • The young Seagoons ( they are only in their 30s 😉) are coming to stay for a few weeks before they move to NZ for a few years so I have heaps of cleaning and organising and probably shopping. Happy they are staying, sad they are leaving, but we'll see them again and NZ is a great adventure for them, which is so cool. 😊

  • Got my "Peony Bouquet" wax melts delivered today and with no shock to anyone, they're super florally. I'm not completely sure these really fit my whole vibe but I'm still going to melt them flowery motherfuckers nonetheless.

    7
  • Despite having to do some work today I feel heaps better, I swear to God it's because there's some real sun... and I think taking the melatonin last night helped somehow.

  • I am kinda loving the first page of my home screen at the moment so I thought I'd show it off. You can see the Google Calendar widget has seen the colour scheme of my wallpaper and made itself brown. Inside the Boost Lemmy app it has actually done the same thing which is awesome.

iPhone users, can your toys do widgets yet? I haven't been keeping up with iOS updates for ages.

  • Sigh. Rent went up.

I still haven’t chased refunds/credit for the expensive arse cat biscuits she can’t eat, and she’s inhaling the expensive tins like she’s got hollow legs.

Mourning the clothing that got ruined because the equivalent replacements now are such bad quality.

Also I’m wasting money/letting food go bad/getting by in less eco friendly ways because I’m constantly so damn tired. Just bone deep fatigue.

Even the once free entertainments now want their pound of flesh.

    Everything feels shitty and dystopian

  • Do I want to pull the trigger on this? I have no other ideas for what to do with myself over this time period and I really don't want to end up sitting at home at my computer. I've never been on a P&O cruise but I have been on 2 cruises with the same itinerary, which is the South Pacific islands.

  • We shouldn't complain ... much. NSW weather today

  • Went to put the car out in the street as the lawn guy is supposed to help me get the old couches out for hard rubbish. So of course the wipers stuck.
Picture me in a black dressing gown UGGs and thermals and severe bedhead fiddling with the wipers and coaxing them to move, dammit.
I hope the commuters along the highway were entertained, at least.

  • Sorry about the rain on your morning commute folks, I watered my plants in with Charlie carp because there was a smidgeon of sun and I forgot to check the forecast

  • Extra soggy out there today. Took Mr Woof for a walk (fully coated up, of course) and managed to time it pretty well between showers - it was a bit drizzly, but not too wet. Then I went back out by myself to grab some hard rubbish I saw on the way, and it decided it was a great time to bucket down. Not fun, but I now have a metal frame from some sort of shelving unit that will work perfectly as a cage for my tomato, saving me the time I was going to spend building one from bamboo.

  • I made a hole!

Well, technically the hole was already there and I just uncovered it. Now I have to work out what to do with a big hole in the floor of my wardrobe. It's the old return air duct from long dead ducted heating, and it was a pain to pull out - it started off well with just undoing some screws, but one side was nailed down, then had the strip for the carpet nailed on top as well.

I'm thinking probably a piece of MDF and a carpet mat on top, and maybe something like corflute or thin plastic taped over the hole in the back wall, given it is not very visible (and the wall is masonite, not plaster). For now it just has the ugly space-stealing chipboard box cover back over the top of it to make sure Mr Woof does not use it as an excape route, but it would be nice to have that bit of space useable.

  • Gosh, I was falling asleep at my desk at work today. I don't know what it was, I had coffee, I had my ADHD medication. Tried to walk around to wake me up. But an hour after I took my afternoon ADHD meds my body was like "okay it's wake up time!" ... ugh.

Though to add, I've gone to bed later than I did last night and I've been fine. So I have no idea why I was so bloody sleepy. But in good news, my planner arrives tomorrow or Wednesday so I'm pumped. I'm also looking at a bunch of Etsy stores that sell printable planner stickers because it's cheaper IMHO to buy printable stickers and then use Mum's cricket machine since the only thing I need to buy more of is the sticker paper.

  • Reading your comments so far this morning I'd expect to see dark skies and rain but it's sunny and blue here in Docklands. I've just opened the balcony door and bedroom window. Breeze is a bit fresh but I think I must have missed the winterpocalypse reported.

  • Back at work for half an hour and already have a headache before getting through my inbox. Liquid dinner predicted.

  • Annoyed because I want to try actually watching the classic slashers for Halloween, if I’m not too much of a wuss that is. (I know bits because of cultural permutations and am curious but never actually watched them.)

But a lot of even the older movies and shows have been completely scrubbed from YouTube by DMCA. (It seems the full run of Buffy I watched over lockdown might be gone now.) There’s not much worth watching on Tubi, public TV is just a vehicle for ads even if I still had a telly, I don’t yarr and I am not getting a streaming service. Fuckem.

I genuinely miss video rentals. I used to get a bundle of 5 weekly videos for $10 and watch them while eating dinner.

Edit: Has anyone tried Plex? It says it’s free with ads and is legal. But does it make you sign up or download anything, and is it at all shady?

Kanopy is being discontinued due to the high cost to libraries. I never even did that… couldn’t be stuffed setting it up and my local libraries are difficult for me to get to in person

  • Test neg but I feel like I have razor blades in my throat...I don't remember having a sore throat like this ever...

  • Rewatching Utopia (UK) and forgot and how terrifyingly horrid it is. Also the casting of Anna Madeley and Ruth Gemmel in their respective roles was such an excellent choice, they really do look eerily the same (someone should actually cast them as twins one day).

  • I have been invited to a party where the theme is to dress up like a meme. Any suggestions? Something not too complicated?

  • Have just texted lawn guy and suggested we put off moving the couches until Wednesday.
Aside from anything else, Sammi is ensconced in her fluffy bed on the other one.

  • So over the last few months on RES I've tagged what I consider suspicious profiles as "voice cooker". Going back through the list, about 1/3 are now deleted, banned, suspended. About 1/3 have stopped posting after posting pretty much all day long about the voice. About 1/3 have moved onto different subreddits wildly unrelated to the topic.

  • The apple keyboard is so ass. I was shocked to see gboard available on the store and installed it instantly.

The swipe is terrible, moving between words to correct typos is terrible. Jeez apple need to work on their keeb.

  • Has anyone here used teams meetings without having a microsoft account? Trying to work out if it is possible or if Microsoft are talking shyte.
