Valve detail their plans to combat Steam Deck OLED scalpers
With the released of the Steam Deck OLED and the Steam Deck OLED Limited Edition tomorrow, Valve has given out a little bit more info on how they plan to combat scalpers.
I hope the fact that there are less restrictions for the regular OLED models is an indication that it's available in huge numbers right from the start.
And I hope that the Limited Edition sells out quickly so I can't get one because while I want it, I don't want to spend $680 for it (but I will if I can)
I'm in the same boat, I can only justify the expense to myself if I'm able to get the limited edition. The OLED model seems to address basically all of my minor issues with the LCD model so I know I'd enjoy the upgrade but it's definitely not necessary for me to enjoy the device.

I've seen a surprising amount of people confused on this across the net thinking the Steam Deck OLED as a whole is limited but it's not.
Additionally, their FAQ also notes for the normal 512GB and 1TB Steam Deck OLED models you will only be able to purchase "1 model of Steam Deck OLED per customer per week" but they plan to relax that when they're confident they can meet demand.
They will switch to the reservation queue if needed and email people when it's ready but Valve also said "we will be refreshing inventory of Steam Deck regularly, and do not foresee long queue times like we saw with the Steam Deck LCD launch".
All models go live at the same time at 10AM PST / 6PM UTC on November 16th on the Steam Deck store.

Given all the great things I've heard about the new oled model, particularly repairability wise, I might pick one up for myself. As well as playing my library OTG, it'll work beautifully as a remote for my FPV project!
Just make people get them in person at a store and put a tattoo on them that lasts for a year or so...

Considering there are still LE editions readily available, I’d say it was far from useless. In fact got my LE edition order put in day of launch two hours after release, and received it yesterday.
This comment was made at the moment the sale started as people were starting to see a notification that the item in their cart was out of stock, I know there isn't much action around here, but you should have looked at how old the content was.
