They’re running into the same Star Wars trap. You have this amazing base lore and established universe and instead you focus on the same group of people over and over.
Ugh can we do new content please, why not the post-tng era timeframe? I wanna see new stories, faces, content.
- It's not just that either. In a prequel, certain things have to happen, and certain things can't happen. The Enterprise is never in danger of being destroyed, and the TOS crew can't die or otherwise leave.
  
  That is so easily handled in a Sci Fi show. Particularly Star Trek, which has a long history of alternate timelines.

They want to keep the cast and crew of SNW, they just don't want to pay them all more as contractually obligated to do so after 5 seasons
