Facial hair gives me dysphoria so I remove that, and I don’t have any shadow left these days. Except for facial hair I’m mysteriously blessed with a typical female body hair pattern, like a lot of other transfems I know (but certainly not everyone). I have less body hair than my sister. But I like body hair on women and don’t shave under my arms or my pubes. Just trim a bit under the arms.
I shave my legs, underarms, labia, and bikini line, and also my upper lip and cheeks for peach fuzz. I overplucked my eyebrows in the '90s and they never fully recovered, so I don't really need to pluck them, but I do fill them in and use brow gel to get them to stay in a nice shape.
pretty much same here
the only differences on my end are that I occasionally shave my arms if I notice dark hairs there (probably less than once a month)
The eternal struggle and the only source of dysphoria for me. I use a foil razor on my face daily, an IPL (home laser) on my face and tits weekly, an epilator on my arms and legs when i can build up the courage, a disposable head razor on my legs and boobs if I have a date. Trim the sideburns, pubes and armpits with the trimmer on the electric razor as needed. At the salon they trim and dye my head hair and wax my eyebrows. I am learning to pluck my eyebrows I just did it for the first time this week and i like the results.
I'm saving up for electrolysis i have a fair amount of grey in my chin hair that is immune to the IPL and even though you can't really see it i can feel it a few hours after shaving and i am not a fan at all.
I'm a little worried my extremely sensitive skin won't be a good candidate for electrolysis and i'm going to end up a bearded old witch one day but what can ya do.
I leave it all, except when there's a random long one in a weird place and i pluck that. I'll probably pluck facial hair when age does what it does
I had a fair bit of coarse hair that responded well to laser. However it left behind equally coarse gray hairs that didn't respond at all on my neck, face and chest. I've been spending the last 6+ months going to electrolysis on the regular and now my face and neck are well on their way to being fully cleared!
Facial hair, and pubic hair currently. However, we only need to remove the latter for our HRT patches, if we didn't need to then we wouldn't for any other reason.
We think body hair is beautiful.
I am so very hairy, my entire family on both sides is hairy, and I used to have a lot of dysphoria about it. I now rock my arm hair and just try to trim my facial hair with a trimmer if it's looking particularly obvious. I have a lot of tweezers and use them to fidget if I'm watching videos. When I had more time, I used to sugar wax every two or three months and thankfully after a few years that gave me nice smooth calves that don't need any upkeep. I guess the hair gave up after being ripped out enough. Same for my pits, the remaining hair is soft and fine enough that I'm not self conscious about it.
I highly recommend sugar wax to anyone with body hair that's relatively coarse and thick, you can make it yourself for less than a dollar a batch and it's not as painful as "normal" waxing. I mean, it's still painful, but it's over quickly and it's not as rough on your skin. It's a great broke bitch option for unwanted hair because the biggest cost is time.
I remove all body hair from the neck down, either by shaving or with epilator. I’m considering laser hair removal but people I know have had mixed results.
I am one of those people with mixed results! But it still seemed worth it to try before electrolysis.
Epilators seem so terrifying to me 😰
If you don’t mind me asking, how many sessions did you have? For some people it takes more to fully remove the hair.
Epilators are noisy but they hurt less than waxing. Mine has a light on it that’s helpful for spotting hairs I missed. They can’t cut you, although if you run them over folded skin they might pinch a little.
Electrolysis would be even better but it’s very expensive. I heard it’s usually done on smaller patches of hair. Full leg, bikini, and armpits would be a lot.
I use an epilator on my legs, it's fine but then I waxed for 10 years before I switched
Visible body hair (i.e. legs, arms, pits) that you can see when clothed gets terminated pretty fast. Either epilated or shaved depending on where and if I can be bothered). Downstairs is very much a thing for special occasions.
None
I think this is a great thing to talk more openly about!
I have an at-home laser hair removal device (https://us.braun.com/en-us/female-hair-removal/ipls/silk-expert-pro-5-pl5157) that I use on my legs, armpits, bikini line, and boobs. I also use a razor to touch up legs, armpits, and bikini area when I need to. The hair in these areas is a lot slower to grow & more fine than it used to be before I started using the laser device, but it does still come back.
I can't imagine being the type of person who takes pubic hair removal seriously though. I've just got too much and it grows too fast and my skin is way too sensitive to handle it. As someone that isn't in a relationship and not super into hookups, my perspective is: if you're going down there you're welcome and you're one of the lucky few. I'm not about to cause myself constant discomfort just so my occasional sexual partners have a view of my genitals that they may or may not find more aesthetically pleasing. The idea of putting in all that time, effort, money, and discomfort just so that my vag can look like a child's is a fucking no for me.
No judgement towards those that do it! Just could never be me.
I normally shave everything below the neck with an electric body razor before plucking/epilating my bikini area, but I just got a home IPL gadget so my routine is going to change.
For facial hair I style my moustache into curls and my goatee to a point with a stiff, matte wax and shave off the rest. I pluck my own eyebrows too, but I need to hit the hair salon to get my undercut shaved back in.
I'm pretty vibes based. If I have an event with polite company I'll shave visible legs and underarms, but otherwise I can go up to two weeks without and not be too bothered by it. It really just depends on how I'm feeling on any given day. I like to keep things at least tidy for my monthly visits, but I'll switch the style up to keep myself entertained.
I have friends that shave every day, friends that revel in not shaving all winter, and friends that have stopped shaving completely. I had a friend who dyed their underarm hair for fun back when that was more popular. Just mentioning these to showcase some more variety. Society can be really restrictive and demanding about this, but the reality is whatever works for you is valid. 💖
